They thought, "let's make the most based Slime"

Don't know. Somehow they managed to make the most soulless looking enemy

...that you'll need the experience points. Same shit with Audino in Pokemon, it's meant to be slayed in cold blood, not caught, gives the first mon in your party mad exp.

it's cute, small, and easy to market because it can be enjoyed by all ages wdym anon?

In the first two Dragon Quest games, they only give about as much EXP as two or three normal enemies. They're really not worth the hassle.

Unless you're a casual playing the later ports where they give like 10 times more experience.

That's lame. Isn't DQ considered to be a prime example of grindy Japanese RPGs though? Not hating on it, just saying I guess I shouldn't be surprised - they wanted you to keep grindin'. Design wise, it's a slime. Cute and derpy at the same time, no complaints.

Grinding sucks and cheating to bypass difficulty sucks too. How hard is that concept to grasp? This may shock you, but good game designers have figured out ways to add difficulty to RPGs without making the player fight the same random encounters over and over again dozens of times.

who are you quoting?
although, you don't have to grind in most rpgs anyway if you're good
unless the people saying grinding mean fighting every enemy, but don't most people do that? wouldn't say that's grinding

>make an enemy to bypass grinding
>make it take no damage
>make it run away without giving any reward just to taunt the player
oh yeah awesome game 10/10 stellar design

the amount of zoomer tears in this post
grinding when done right is quite addictive, there's a reason why people get addicted to RPGs
sorry you can't have fun buddy

DQ was only truly grindy in I and II. i recently played IV (NES) and barely had to grind.
