Post old QAs and interviews.

>what exact role do you take in the games development process
His photo on the pic is Miyamoto nervously sweating after this question

>> No.8957345

I wish I could find the interview where Miyamoto claims responsibility for the fact that the N64 has no games, claiming it's better to have fewer games but of higher quality since most children get 2 games a year.

>claiming it's better to have fewer games but of higher quality
I can agree with this, HOWEVER I feel like this contributed to the era of 3D platformer collectathons which in hindsight fucking suck.

Computer games already allowed you to save games and buy items ...
To Miyamoto, it would appear that gaming only exists through consoles.

It's just typical developer ego
>I came up with this thing!
even when they didn't.

Is this your first interview?

>We've actually tried to make it as easy as possible
>The way the game is structured you can't take alternative routes to finish the game
Link to the Past is a good game but can't say i'm its biggest fan

>> No.8957624

>>8957548
I like how he says that they tried to make it as easy as possible yet it's still harder than literally every Zelda game that followed except for Oracles

>> No.8957650

>>8957624
eh i don't know about that
LA is harder (though granted it's not that big of a difference) if you are not using the DX suits, and in the 3D games the combat gets even more sidelined in favor of the adventure aspects so it's kinda hard to compare. Harder than Ocarina but easier than TP imo

>> No.8957658

>>8957650
>easier than TP
Are you serious? TP is piss easy, there is literally nothing even remotely challenging in this game aside from Cave of Ordeals. But even that is easy if you have a couple potions/fairies with you

>> No.8957729

>>8957658
i'm not saying it's a hard game, just that ALTTP is even easier
i played it a long time ago though

That one is pure bullshit though. It's someone retelling a discussion he had with someone else 10 years before.

Then, you have the guy writing "the 2nd form isn't Dracula" which is an interpretation of that. If the initial discussion was indeed remembered correctly, it is more likely that was what meant is that Dracula = Man's Wrath; that Dracula and his monstruous second form exists because of the evil in man's heart.

All the canon material from the first game and all the sequels and remakes do call Dracula's second form "Dracula's second form".

I like the one where Nintendo Power ITSELF asks "why isn't the N64 doing well in Japan" and Benimaru Itoh of all people goes "well it's probably 'cause there's no RPGs"

Man what a coincidence, today I played around with my PSP that is fucked beyond repair.
>broken stick
>WLAN not working
>charging port not working
What Mikami said is so fucking true, why people don't talk about this is beyond me. All of my Sony consoles are fucked. And Dualshock 3 may as well be the worst controller of all time in terms of durability

As someone who fixes consoles for a living. Sony consoles are by far the absolute worst and most common to break. Total hodge podge of build. And they constantly seek to cheapen the build process aka make it even less reliable. and then their later consoles just get annoying and horrible to take apart and work in. Sony has always been a bastard company

From what I understand he shows up and watches them work on a game, starts smoking in the office, goes on a tangent about something he saw on a hike or some abstract concept, and acts pretty cold and nearly rude during work hours. Then the team realize that whatever bullshit he was talking about actually relates to the game in some bizarre way and when the concept is implemented makes the game better. And when work hour is done Miyamoto turns into a very friendly person

The person shmuplations took those tweets from is actually Masami Sakai/ 酒井 優海, a game designer who worked with Hitoshi Akamatsu on a 1997 fishing game released for the PlayStation titled Tsuridou. While he never mentions his real name on any of his tweets, you can easily figure out his true identity by looking at his other tweets and cross-referencing the other games he worked on (he was the director of Atelier Annie for the Nintendo DS).

Anyway, it's pretty obvious while he did know Akamatsu, he was never an employee of Konami and a lot of the information he has about Akamatsu's time from the company, he's likely exaggerating or misremembering things. Like, he makes it seem as if Akamatsu worked with Kojima on the original Metal Gear for the MSX2, when it's pretty obvious Akamatsu was likely talking about Snake's Revenge, the non-canon NES sequel he was credited as lead programmer for.
