Never see this game talked about much, what does /vr/ think of Omega Boost? Playing it now and feel it holds pretty well, definitely feels a quality over quantity kind of game which some people may not care for but I find it pretty fun to blast through.

General mecha games thread I guess.

Extremely pretty but no substance, depth or challenge

Looks like a 90's Noita but with robots...

Is it related to the series Omega strike?

I have no idea what either of those things are. However, their main inspiration for Bangai-O was an early '80s japanese microcomputer action game called Hover Attack.

Loved it when I was younger. Wish I still had it.

I remember it was the game of Tokyo Game Show and was so hyped for the game's release. Always wanted a sequel to the game, but Polyphony got really busy making only Gran Turismo games. Only relatively recently I learned the intro was different per region, and I still prefer the Japanese one best as that was what I am most familiar with and seems to fit the rhythm/flow of the game best to me: https://youtu.be/ROPCD5Vm6b8

I think of myself as a fan of Treasure but I still haven't played the N64 or Dreamcast versions of this game, only the sequel on the DS. Which according to some posters here is dogshit but I found it really fun. I'm probably going to be blown away once I eventually try this version.

God, why couldn't they keep the Japanese cover?

I bought it from a furniture store back in the day without knowing anything about it. I remember the soundtrack was good but it basically felt like a basic 3D rail shmup like Star Fox without depth. At the time I was also really into Armored Core, so the relative lack of depth by comparison meant I only played it a few times. Definitely one of those games where the story only lives in the manual.

Maybe I'm misremembering it, but it seemed a lot like Rez. Some people were apparently really excited over this game back in the day for some reason though.

Shitty game but cool concept. The fleet battle level was fun.
