I enjoyed it. I played it on MAME with a cousin. The screen can get kinda busy at times. It got frustrating when my cousin was screwing around instead of moving forward in the end, a timed ending.

I'm just saying that the fact that you shoot enemies doesn't make something a shmup, that is a specific genre with a specific set of mechanics in common. Free movement and auto-scrolling are among those commonalities, while hopping around on platforms is not. You can't just cram everything into "shmup" just because shooting is involved at some point, that's why we have different categories of game in the first place.
