I fucking love stylized PS1 graphics.

high fidelity lighting really muted the style of those games.

>low poly makes a niche comeback in indie games
>literally the only games using it are just shitty horror games that all want to look like silent hill 1

Would it really kill anyone to just make a 3d animal platformer that looks like a PS1 game instead of generic horror crap?

It started out as a Spyro fangame until they changed it into a legally distinct indie game.

Not what Anon asked for. In fact, it's literally the opposite of what Anon asked for. I seem to have soiled myself. How embarrassing.

PS1 games are beautiful because in the best cases you can tell they counted every polygon and had to make the most of it

Clicked to the latest video and the dev sounds like he wants to kill himself. I think he should.

When you're under heavy hardware restrictions, you have to make every decision count. This forced many developers to get creative in order to convey their vision. Something that modern devs don't have to deal with, for better or worse.

What were the most technically impressive PS1/PS2 games?

FFXII comes to mind as far as insanely impressive PS2 games. Didn’t care for the game itself very much but graphically it’s a technical marvel to say the least.

B-Movie was a fun game.

"Stylized" could very well be the most overused word when discusing 3D visuals in the last few years, to the point that it's now almost meaningless.

I usually don't care about 3D platformers, but that looks pretty fun. Also feels very faithful to the kind of games it's trying to emulate, unlike games like Hat in Time or that banjo clone.

I'll hand it to him for the rolling and flipping mechanics, didn't have to add that depth to a spyro clone.

I don't get the VHS filter with "retro throwback" games, games in the 90s weren't played on video tape.

Fucking hell, back in the 90's, video game reviews were were printed in magazines and sometimes they came with video cassettes containing trailers and shit.
Or people recorded games they were playing.
I know I did on my AIWA TV Recorder Combo.
Those filters are very much authentic, zoomer.

I've tried replaying the old Spyro games and they're so unbelievably boring. The fangame looks fun, but it better have some good writing.

I'm 31 and still use tapes, the filters aren't convincing and furthermore, you don't -play- the game on a tape.

>you don't -play- the game on a tape.
I don't know why you felt like you needed to emphasize that. No one thinks that.
It's just a generic effect they threw into the trailer. There isn't an in-game vhs filter.
