Legends 2 is regretfully kind of shit. That underwater dungeon absolutely dunks on the water temple from OoT as you move around the entire thing at half the speed. Unfortunate that no autist ever went out of his way to port the control scheme from 2 into 1.

It wasn't supposed to run at half speed. It's actually a limitation of the console that made it that slow due to all the water effects. It's abysmally boring without the water skates.

I like MML2 more because you go to a wider variety of locations, it has cooler cutscenes, and a better story. Is the water dungeon painful? Yeah, but it can also be fun with the massive dash jumps. If you know it’s coming and how to control effectively, it doesn’t ruin the game by any stretch.

1 has better story and arguably a better world, but 2 has MUCH better gameplay.

Also, the underwater dungeon is genuinely my favourite part of the game and my favourite underwater dungeon in any game. It feels like an actual adventure, feels like I'm actually treasure hunting in some deep unknown cave; and when you finally get back to the surface seeing the light of the day and getting back to regular controls is so satisfying.

I agree with this sentiment; game felt way too formulaic compared to the first one and the endgame dungeon’s lack of an elevator for quickly traveling to and from the surface literally triggered me like nothing else.

I think the hate for that water dungeon is overblown, though. Games other flaws stuck out to me way more than that shit.
