I'll un-apologetically shill this amazing game as much as humanly possible. Baseball, robots and fighting - truly some of the best things in life. If not this then Bionic Commando and/or Kirby's Adventure.

I just tried it for the first time and it kicks ass. The only SHMUPs on NES I beat are Crisis Force, Over Horizon and S.C.A.T (and Talespin lol), though I got pretty far in 1943.
