What was the first retro game? When was the medium first old enough for a retro game to exist?

Retro gaming has been a thing since as long as there have been people who were nostalgic for an earlier era of gaming. The first "retro games shop" popped up online in 1997 and that is the first recorded usage of the term "retro" in regards to games, but even at that time there were already people who were collecting old Atari games from when they were young they were just using different lingo for it.

The first retro game would be one of those really early games from the 1940's like Bertie the Brain or something similar to that. Whatever the first video game was.

Yes, I understand time passes.
I'm asking about retro games, not vintage games.

I suppose when you started getting next-gen compilations/remakes of previous-gen games. So, something like Mario All-Stars made SMB1/2/3 retro.
