How does this bad boy hold up in 2022? I was a Goldeneye/Perfect Dark cultist but I never gave Timesplitters the same deep dive into all of the available content. Maybe the animation/campyness was a bit too much for me at the time. Anyway is it worth shelling countless hours into this one for all the unlocks and is it really as hard as people say it is?

>> No.8850390

yes its similar to ge/pd but with more settings.
its not that hard compared to ge or ts1
ts2 campaign is worse than ge /pd.

The controls are obviously "outdated" by modern console shooter standards. I personally like that old way and thought heavy auto aim hipfire/hold button for preciision aiming was better than the modern twin stick control scheme anyway. The level design is also much like Goldeneye/PD style. It's not really that "campy," compared to Future Perfect anyway (FP is also much more in line with the FPS design of the time controls and level design wise). At any rate, it's very much in line with that GE/PD lineage so if you liked those games you should like TS2.

Also it's 30 fps on DC with no anisotropic filtering, making all textures blurry as fuck.

>>8850418
Just use a PC at that point. If you're desperate to use a console for some asinine reason use a PS2, since that supports regular USB keyboards instead of the DC's special snowflake crap.

It's the exact same game as when it released. Literally no change.

Game code tends to get stored in a lossy rather than lossless form which means certain gameplay and graphical elements do actually degrade over time. Entropy is universal, anon.

>> No.8851610

I tried it out within Homefront The Revolution and it seemed a bit shit honestly. I'd much rather play 90's PC shooters than early 00's console shooters.

how was this game met when it came out? it was supposed to be a spiritual successor to GE / PD of sorts, right? why isn't it talked about more often then? and why didn't it become as big as Halo?

Just comparing the singleplayer I always thought TS sucked compared to PD, levels are way more linear and weapons far less creative and I don't like the reality hopping/character changing gimmick either as it just made the plot feel nonexistent.

Worst way ever to play Rainbow Six so no.
Then again all the versions are terrible aside from PC.

>> No.8853335

Fun, full of content and jam packed with soul. They don't make em like that anymore. Very enjoyable with friends. You'll want to bang your head against a brick wall on the harder difficulties playing with that twitchy aim though.
