Genesis has uniquely shitty composite video so normal hardware doesn't look the same. That dither blending looks like it would work well enough, but can it simulate dot crawl? I don't feel like my parents are divorced if there's no dot crawl.

Depends on my mood really, some of my favorite retro games are all from Nintendo (Super Metroid, SMB, Legend of Zelda).

But if I wanna play some fast paced arcade game real quick, the Megadrive is my go to.
It's the console I use the most, I even have a second one I never use just in case the other one bites the dust.

Based take I didn't expect to see. Good point. These games that flaunt these 60 hour playtimes and sprawling stories and shit, I just...don't get it. I don't have the time, energy, or attention for that. There are rare exceptions like the Souls games these days but that's because they're gameplay oriented. I, for the most part, just can't click with story heavy things or games that just are so fucking long. They clearly have their audience though.
