How can I learn to respect gamers under 30? They have the most inaccurate take on things, and this a skewed or agenda's opinion. Often, everything that is "good" for them is impulsive and quickly received rewards. This is only after prying the information out of them because they can't really explain why something is good. They have no real historical baseline to go off of. This always pushes me into a gate keeping elitist camp in there perspective when I'm really not trying to be.

Zoomers have grown up in a time where games are like social media, their big favorites are all the hugest multiplayer ones like Minecraft, Fortnite, Among Us. They have a different understanding of what makes a game good and impactful seeing as they have grown up in the social media age, where everything is appraised by how widespread it is and its affect on a culture you can share in.

It's also why I kind of agree that zoomers have nothing to offer as far as insights in gaming at larg go. They most often think that games from before Minecraft are novelties at best, and anything before the year 2005 maybe is just completely unplayable in their eyes. It's always going to be more interesting to have the insights from older gens who lived through different phases of technology and genre popularity, who can play a jrpg from 1996 without trying to claw their eyes out. But times change, once all of us are too senile to talk about games then the zoomers will be the wise ones with more relevant insights than those younger and so on.

Let's not forget they have also grown up in a time where public education is deficient, where more emphasis is put in social studies than actual knowledge.
It can be hardly said they have an understanding of what makes a game actually good because the games you mentioned for example forsake quality gameplay or even demanding to cognitive functions gameplay to push a social agenda or a subscription model.

What about Undertale/Deltarune? Those are extremely popular with zoomers despite being 90s inspired single player RPGs. Also a lot of older zoomers grew up with retro games through collections (Sonic, Midway Arcade Treasures, even Pac Man World 2 had unlockable arcade games) and those plug and play TV joysticks.

The core gamer demographic will always exist, just ignore the normies who only play Fortnite.

UT/DT are barely games to be fair. If it weren't for the (mediocre) story and the genuinely kick-ass OST you'd be left with a purposely badly-designed RPG.

Do people even play UT/DT for the gameplay? Despite the bullet hell RPG gimmick being sorta interesting I always see people just using the characters and setting as a toybox for softbean fluff shit. I wonder why Toby didn't made them a walking simulator from the get-go. The meta narrative involving the player isn't even all that interesting given the black and white take on such a "nuanced" plot.
