Hello friends, I was gifted a Dreamcast with one controller and VMU but no games. Is there a way to play ROMs on it without resorting to buying hyper-inflated real copies of games from collectors?

Buy a chink GDEMU clone and look up how to install it. You literally just pop the disc drive out and put it in.

This. Any ODE
>Optical Drive Emulator
Will do the trick. Some are better than others. The Chinese variants vary in quality so do your homework and lurk. There are plenty of threads about GDEMU and various other ODEs, almost daily.

DC Bleem is rarer. The Playstation Bleem is more common. DC Bleem would be ok I guess. But there are better ways I think. With the advent of odes and all.

Awesome thanks anons, I'm watching videos about GDEMU and its clones now. What a time to be alive!

+1 for GDEMU clone. It’s really the best option. Faster loading times, no disk swapping, no disk burning, and it’s easy to install.

>Unplug all the wires from your Dreamcast.
>Turn it upside down and look for the branding >sticker at the bottom of the console.
>Look for the model number on the sticker
>Dreamcast devices that were manufactured >before October 2000 can play burned games.

it doesn't say in as much detail as on a burger console but it says it's VA1 so it will definitely play burned games. it's also compatible with the GDEMU if you get one of those later on.

rather than tear your console down to find the version, just dl a game or tool and burn it like an image. the old utopia boot cd should be only a few mb. if it doesn't boot, go another route
