I never understood how anyone could think the ending to OoT is bittersweet or sad in any way. You basically reverse the entire cataclysm the world is in and get to go back to a time before Ganon totally raped Hyrule. It's not like Zelda is gone.

Zelda from the future timeline is left alone without Link. She's obviously in pain when she has to return Link to the past.
>>8793497
Nah, for Link, she's a princess that asked for his help, but yeah he doesn't know much about her other than the fact she's the princess of hyrule.
Zelda, however? She's been with guilt over fucking Link by making him open the door of time and get him in a coma for 7 years, and then when he came back, Zelda was watching over him all the time like a stalker as Sheik.
There definitely is a bond there, and is confirmed that Link was ultimately in love with Zelda as that's where he goes once he returns to his time, to see Zelda.

its a time-loop/paradox
caused directly by zeldas meddling
the power of the sacred realm was something she was too young to understand

>gets the king killed
>gets most hylians killed
>almost allows ganon to rule the world
>causes timeline fracture where ganon wins

traps link in a loop to be repeated for all eternity

nice

wrong

there are more direct hints at Malon being the love interest in the game - "knight in shining armor" @ shiekah stones by the temple of time

Leaving Saria was extremely sad, and there were a lot more moments like that.

Zelda wasn't his love interest >though
It was more likely Malon or, depending on how valid her imposed, impulsive attempt at betroval was, Ruto

>Zelda from the future timeline is left alone without Link. She's obviously in pain when she has to return Link to the past.
How does time work in Ocarina of Time?
For one - You learn the Song of Storms in the future to teach it to the guy in the past - which implies one singular timeline.
On the other hand - If you don't plant seeds in the past, they won't appear in the future until you do - which implies multiple timelines.
So Link is sent back to the past (for some reason) at the end of the game. But why? And what are the ramifications? Is there another (aged) Link somewhere in the future timeline waiting for Zelda? (one timeline). Because if there are multiple timelines, Ganon is going to need to be defeated again.

I don't think Zelda and Link are a love story. Link is known for departing from Hyrule after his quest is fulfilled.

>> No.8794139

I don't know, if we're just going by the standard of "any friendship can be portrayed as melancholic romance", I feel like you can find shittier friends to single-out for this and therefore the more "melancholic" "romance". What about Jabu Jabu and the Deku Tree, two immobile beings pining at great distance for the other they never see? That's melancholic as fuck, isn't it? Beats whatever you're talking about.

OoT's ending always breaks my heart. The look Zelda gives Link before sending him back and then Navi leaving him always hit me. But I appreciate how the ending parallels the intro. Link's grown up where he can walk away from saying goodbye to Navi. He doesn't run like he does with Saria.
