Turns out it was flat panel lag. Switch the NES to my CRT and I had no problem launching him into the next county.

Had the same problem with Punch Out, everything past Soda Popinski was kicking my ass.

everyone knows you can't beat Mike Tyson on a flat panel

Would it be so hard to make an usb to crt plug or some kind of hardware to output an analog signal? With no latency?

i would like you to describe how you think these technologies work, and how you would implement such a device

I think Samurai Kirby in SS has a final match time which is literally my reaction limit, so I just get caught in endless draws with MetaKnight.

Try Beetlejuice. The life bar normally and intentionally flickers like a mofo but the effect doesn't work on laggy flat panels.

Bait thread. CRT autists trying to break out of their containment threads.
It doesn’t make a damn difference and you know it.
Modern screens are good enough. The CRT is dead.

I beat Punch Out on my LCD on my Wii when I was a kid, you're just bad

>> No.8794531

Runahead in RetroArch. Beat it no problem on my PC and later I even managed to beat it streaming to my phone.

>> No.8794886

I guess it's ok if you just play RPGs or something where speed doesn't matter but in games where ninja reflexes are required I can see why it would be a problem.

A shit panel's a shit panel but long story short: use Retroarch + a >=120hz VRR capable display + run-ahead. On a non-VRR display you can use hard sync/frame delay.

Crt tech was the standard for computers, why can't we just include crt as an adaptable output? Is there latency already at the output of an Xbox? I'm just a carpenter born in 82 who loves games from the 90s. Had Saturn, N64, and PS1. Shit was fun, but playing then on a new TV sucks ass and took forever till I realized it was latency killing the games. Only fun games I've played has been sky rogue, hot shots racing and rocket league. Everything else sucks. But I don't know how it works, but it existed before so why isn't there an easy patch.
