My family had a Pentium + Voodoo back in the day, running Win 95.
Off the top of my head the games I remember playing were:

Tomb Raider 1-3
Screamer Rally
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Comix Zone
Star Trek: Birth of the Federation
Sonic R
The Lion King
Aladdin
Virtua Fighter 2
Road Rash
Alone in the Dark: Ghosts in Town
Command & Conquer

It's a bit of pain to get running properly, especially the 3D accelerated version but it's a very unique game that's worth seeing

Quake 1 and 2 engine games, MDK, Tomb Raider, Moto Racer, Unreal for sure... Was there a 3dfx version of Descent? yeah, probably. Dungeon Keeper, Forsaken, G-Police

this post is literally the first time i've heard Hardwar mentioned anywhere in like 15 years

It's sad desu, it's a great elite-like. Don't know why it isn't on GOG.

I second that. It was one of the first games to utilize MMX, and was marketed as one.
Also, same story with Rebel Moon Rising.

Montezuma's Return. Real-weird first person platforming game with full body awareness and a bunch of at-the-time crazy graphical features like bump-mapping and dynamic colored lighting. Combat sucks, but it's fun to explore and jump around in it.

Hell to the danged no, fucking zoomers have no idea what hardware goes to what games. Windows 9x games were not all made for the same hardware at all. That's more like a barely-able-to-run-Quake-2 setup.

Wut, First Encounter works fine, sure you'll be running at 480p but you'll still get 30+ FPS.

Seems like a good thread to ask.

Anyone got CS 1.6 that's Windows 98 compatible? Care to point me towards it? Thanks.

>> No.8790091

>>8789351
Sadly integrated with Steam (and Steam doesn't run on Win98) and i don't think you can dismantle it because the link to open Steam is embedded within the .exe file

There's a 12 year old video floating around on YouTube that shows 1.6 with a very, very early build of Steam that's running on Windows 98, but i doubt such an old version of Steam would even be able to connect to Valve's servers nowadays.

Which leaves you only with the virus-ridden version 1.5 and the WON network

Bump for interest. It is an era of gaming I kind of skipped out on, in that in-between space when the 3D accelerators were offered to personal computers.
