Never played one of these games before. Where's the best place to start?

>> No.8779472

It's a simple platformer series so the best place to start is always the first game

>> No.8779478

>>8779464
Any of them. Pick any classic series game and play it.
The key is to make sure you eventually play all of them, because all the classic games are different from each other.
Then play the first X game. Or play X first before classic, it doesn't matter.
Just be sure to ONLY play the Z series after finishing a couple X games, because the plot relies on it

I'll say 2, 1 is good but kinda rough around the edges but really can start with any of them.

Wrong. 1st game is the worst.

Nah.

You should start at 6, because it's the easiest one, by a wide margin.

Dude, it's not a JRPG series where the games take 50+ hours to beat and they're allowed to have 3-7 shit tier games before it gets good and the autists will suck that shit up because "it advanced the genre"
It's fucking mega man, it takes around an hour to beat these games. Start on part 1, stick around for part 2, if you like where it's going play the rest.

1 isn't too bad but it's probably better to come back after 2 or 3, some of the bosses can be a pain
if you're not big on these try the x games out, those can be in order

>> No.8779763

The people recommending you to start on 2 are retarded. Start with 4, it's the best of the original 6. If you like it, then play the others. If you don't, then try X. If you don't like X, then stop playing

>> No.8779776

>> No.8779813

Nah. Release order is the fucking brainlet answer.

The LOGICAL order for a game begets the story is nothing, is difficulty order.

6 is the easiest, so you should play it first. Then 5. After that it doesn't matter as much.

Id say easiest to hardest =
6 > 5 > 8 > 2 = 3 = 4 > 10 > 9 > 7 > 1 > Mega Man & Bass

I know it may seem weird to play them in this order, but if you do it, the difficulty curve will feel very natural.

There's no 'correct' first game to play. Truth is that they are all fundamentally the same. 1 planted the flag, but is naturally clunky because it is less refined than later titles. I only had copies of 2, 3, and 5 when I was a kid, and didn't get a chance to play the others until emulation became an option. What I can say for certain is don't start with 7.

The reason to play these in order is the evolution of the gameplay.
Mega Man 1 was unpopular or something, most people started with 2 or later then played 1 and went "what the fuck is this". That's why they're saying don't play 1 first.
>7 and 9 harder than 1
Only becuase you can tank your way through bosses with e-tanks. 9 seems like it was designed by people who misremembered how hard the nes games actually were. The difficulty level they ended up with is a challenge for players who can beat the first 8 games. Unless that was intentional.

Mega Man 1 trouble spots:
>Guts Man platforms
If you really can't figure these out, get elec man's weapon, go back to his stage and use the beam to break the blocks and get the magnet beam. Magnet beam over the platforms.
>Ice Man stage
The pit was designed to be skipped over with the magnet beam. Don't bother with the randomly moving platforms with bad hit detection unless you want thr extra challenge.
>Yellow Devil
Use the pause trick with the elec beam, this works on Wily too
>Boss Rush
Look up Fire Man's pattern on youtube, it's easy but most people try to spam him to death and absorb hits which eats up your health here
