Just got a modded Sega Saturn. What are the best games to play on this system? I already have Nights.

>> No.876291

clockwork knight 2

>> No.876292

any FMV game, they are the best.

>> No.876296

Radiant Silvergun, Virtua Cop 1&2, Virtua Fighter 1&2, House of the Dead series for starters (only ones I know offhand, I'm in the process of fixing my Saturn that I just got). Oh, you're gonna wanna get the light guns too, they run ~$20 a pop.

>> No.876715

Burning Rangers, best game on Saturn hands down.

>> No.876720

get the port of Duke3D and also Powerslave/Exhumed (which is a whole different game from the PC version), they share the same 3D engine with dynamic light and it's really smooth. It shuts up anybody who claims that Saturn had shit 3D.

>> No.876725

Also if you like horror the version of D on Saturn is uncensored.

Enemy Zero is exclusive on the system and is one of the most hardcore survival horror games you can get (R.I.P. Kenji Eno).

Deep Fear (exclusive on the console, unreleased in the US though) is a decent Resident Evil clone

bulk slash and that segata sanshiro game are both available from rakuten for cheap.

dragon force is pretty much the best but it's not very cheap.

I didn't know this store, seems pretty sweet. One question though, if I buy a lot of stuff from the same seller will each product receive individual shipping fee or do they make it a bundle?

>> No.876818

>>876782
They bundled my last order of two games into one package. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I think rakuten is a parent website that lists several smaller retailers so it may vary from store to store. The pages should say something like "we love dealing with foreign buyers!" which means you can communicate in english.

Powerslave/Exhumed, it's basically Metroid Prime before Metroid Prime. The Saturn version is the best one.

It may depend on which shop, but Surugaya-a-too bundles all their shit, and will email you a total with shipping cost (it may take a few days after submitting an order to get that email). Surugaya-a-too ships via EMS which can be expensive, so order a bunch to keep the shipping cost per game lower, and avoid any heavy/bulky items.

Good shit anon, RIP Kenji. Enemy Zero has invisible enemies and a very Alien esque vibe. Fantastic game. D is also a lot of fun.

Hyper Duel is totally rad. The Parodius and Salamander and Gradius collections are all perfect on Saturn. Dragon Force is like crack, army vs army game.

Also OutRun on Saturn was the closest to the arcade ver and it came with old OutRun as well.

I bought my Saturn in Japan for 20 dollars, little did I know how much I'd spend on its expensive as fuck games during the years...

I was thinking of modding my Saturn as I literally only have one game for it not including the Nights demo disc. How is hard is it to install a mod chip and how much do they cost?

The mod chip is about $40-50 and as far as difficulty to install it, depends on the what model Saturn you have.

I'm not the other guy, but I own all of those plus Radiant Silvergun, both releases of Soukyuugurentai, the Kuuga sequels (to go with the MD original and finish the trilogy), Gunbird, Shienryu, In the Hunt, all the Thunder Forces, both Strikers 1945 games, Batsugun, Dodonpachi, Steam Hearts, and others, all complete with obi. Yes, Radiant cost the most of them all.

Even ten years ago, it cost a lot and took quite a bit of searching/waiting to get them all. Shipping from Japan was the biggest kick in the butt...

>>883535
...but still MUCH cheaper than owning arcade boards.

>> No.883549

Or just get MAME because spoilers it emulates the arcade PCBs better then the console ports.

I'll just go ahead and own this stuff legally in my little corner over here, thanks. Collecting is part of my video game hobby.

That's not what that guy was saying, most of those games were arcade ports, and their original hardware wasn't STV for the most part

>> No.883603

>>883586
When you list Radiant Silvergun, and claim MAME has a superior port than the Saturn, I call foul as a reaction.

This isn't even counting the fact the Saturn version has extras.

>> No.883608

>>883603
Again, not the other guy, but out of all the games Anon listed only Radiant Silvergun, Soukyuugurentai and Shienryu are STV games. And to be more specific you can emulate STV and Saturn titles with SSF if it doesn't work properly with MAME's STV core (I honestly never tested it, I just use SSF)

>> No.883613

>>883608
Well, if you need another emulator to get it to work right, that still confirms that MAME isn't cutting it.

>> No.883618

>>883613
I don't know if it works or not, as I said, I never tested it, just saying if it doesn't, you always have SSF as an alternative, which I can testify it works.

http://youtu.be/3KdYCQdYRSM
http://youtu.be/Fw6Aq1jngZo

From the looks of it, it seems to run fine on MAME.
