Then what do you need the analogs for? Especially since using them without the handles is very uncomfortable. Aside from that i find it's a good pad.

Literally every dualshock is better than that thing. Only some nintendo-worshipping weirdo would want that abomination.

You're right, they're pretty much worthless for what i want. I already have a ps4 controller if i want to play other stuff.
>Aside from that i find it's a good pad
Nice, thank you.

>> No.8761034

It's pretty good, especially if you can get it for under $50. I found the analog sticks surprisingly comfortable to use, personally. The dpad isn't the greatest but certainly not the worst by any stretch.
I found that the dpad was fine for platformers, racing games and RPGs but not ideal for 2D fighting games, so it'll probably suit you just fine.
I mostly use mine with my Switch, and it's survived being thrown in a backpack and going around the country with me several times.

Nothing to complain about other than that it needs to be in Switch mode for motion but that's because of Xinput not supporting motion.

Try a Retroflag's.
They're about 17 - 20 shekels and close to the real deal, I feel. Downside is they're a bit finicky to set up on Switch. They're D-input by default and if you turn off your Switch, you have to set the controller it to X-input each time you turn it back on and sometimes it won't pick up the controller right away.

Also from a lite-lurker's perspective, 8-bitdo gets marketed on here semi-often, ironic or otherwise. They have at pretty dominant presence in the retro market now with how many posters come here (and on /v/) mentioning it over lesser known brands.

Some anon's have expressed how shoddy they can be when it comes to the quality vs. the price while others have said "Works on my machine".
I've even heard some of the woes first hand from a streamer that has one and would regularly run into problems with it from time to time using it on PC.

TL;DR Your mileage may vary, but signs point to "It's shit"

They've been hit and miss for a lot of people, I'm wondering if it's quality control. My first 8bitdo a few years back was a piece of fucking shit and I returned it quickly. My Xbox controller started to fuck up recently and I got a Pro 2 as I didn't want the hassle of using DS4WIndows for motion input and I've quickly fallen in love with the thing. Better options exist for the money.
Those iBuffalo pads blow these things out of the fucking water for SNES.
For the same $50, you can get an iBuffalo SNES pad on eBay (I don't think they sell them new) and a Saturn USB controller (retro-bit made them, I think). Or even Raphnet adapters for the controllers you already own.

Even if you're looking for an all-purpose controller, these get outclassed by the newer Xbone controllers, which ALSO cost $50 and have much higher build-quality along with an improved d-pad design, negating the most common complaint regarding 8bitdo.
