At first i was gonna get upset and call you a faggot, but then i thought about it.
Chakan on Genesis is a poorly slapped together, basically unfinished, platformer that just got pushed out.
So in a way, you are exactly right, the game was ahead of it's time because all we get nowadays are poorly slapped together basically unfinished games.

God it pisses me off when people complain about Chakan. Anyone who understands the context in which this game was made would agree that it’s fine the way it is. Just try reading the credits.

You know, in a way it was.
It had a progression structure that wasn't like anything else at the time, where you're tasked with clearing three acts of four worlds within a limited time, and that time limit stretches across the three acts.
You can die repeatedly when attempting to clear stages, but this isn't too big of a set-back unless you run out of time and lose all progress for that stage.
There's a decent alchemy system where you can collect potions in stages and combine them for different effects, ranging from invulnerability, health recovery, higher jumps, weapon imbuement, and one to flip the hourglass timer which can increase or reduce your remaining time accordingly.

The lack of a conventional lives system was novel at the time, given the character's immortality and his pursuit of ending it. It's a premise that I like a lot, but unfortunately the game just doesn't play well, combat and platforming is super clunky and cumbersome that leads more to aggravation and frustration than it does challenge. Not that you can't overcome it, but it doesn't feel satisfying to do so and it becomes necessary to learn when to best use your potions.

What am I supposed to be seeing here? The fact that was it a small dev team? Them shilling the R.A.K. comics? This doesn't change the combat not being very good.

It's racist towards black to call undead black, it's as if you were implying, that all blacks are same as dead.

The most interesting aspect is that Sega possibly owns the rights to this character? Even though it was from a comic. It keeps showing up in those atGames plug in play shits for some reason.
