Unclear pixel thread, I guess.

Always had a hunch that it was something SD. My guess was Ryu, but it looked nothing like his offical art at the time.

Also, just went through my little brother's retro collection. I had no idea they put SFII on the Genesis. OP picture is from vanilla SFII SNES, but apparently there was a version of champion edition on the Genesis. About to take it for a spin.

OP here.

Couldn't get the Genesis to work. I'll have to ask my brother if it is actually working.

So I played SFII Turbo on the SNES instead (The picture is from the Wii version of SFII vanilla).

I just can't get the hang of SFII. I'm decent at MvC. But it seems like SFII is more about hit and run tactics than getting in someone's face and combos.

Or maybe Ken just sucks.

It's player 1 from Side Arms, a nice 80's shooter.

It had a 2 player mode and you could even combine both fighters into a single, bigger robot where whoever grabbed the powerup got to control the robot while the other player got to fire the weapons. If the combined robot received 2 enemy attacks, the combination ended and the reobot was split into the original player 1 and 2 ships to resume normal gameplay.

without timing the jumping HP that info is useless...and even if done correctly, any remotely good Chun-Li/Guile/Ken/Dhalsim player would come out of that "combo" easily, and whoever is actually pretty good with any other char can too, it's an overall pretty easy combo to come out.

>>874110
>But it seems like SFII is more about hit and run tactics than getting in someone's face and combos.
You can easily perform 3(and sometimes 4) hit combo, fake moves to throws, smart use of slow projectiles and such in SFII, "hit and run" tactics are the one used by beginners, but it just need little practice to bcome good with 2 or 3 chars and then master them.

That's completely wrong. A properly done combo in any SF2, including Turbo, is unbreakable once the first hit lands. That's what makes them combos. As for timing on the initial FHP, "deep."

Yes, but every combo has the same weak point: the first hit has to obviously land, and any good player can avoid a Ryu jumping HP from landing...it's one of the easiest move to avoid, especially if done from an unexperienced player like OP

>> No.881589

>>879965
The post to which I replied said that "any remotely good" player could "come out" of a combo, implying interruption (as I read it). My point was that's not right, combos in SF are unbreakable.

Of course timing the first hit is critical as you mention. But nobody's going to be able to avoid the first hit of a combo every single time. Looking for moments to punish someone is a big part of the game. If the opponent performs an ill-timed special move, you punish them in the hang time as much as you can - there's where combos fit in.
