Rumble Roses is fun but the gameplay is nothing like any of the WWE games

I've played a few minutes of Fire Pro Wrestling on the GBA and Super Wrestlemania on the Genesis. Where should I start if I know next to nothing about wrestling but want to play some fun games involving it?

I liked this game when I was a kid but everytime I've seen it discussed on 4chan the commentary's been negative.

I liked the backstage brawls and character creation. I loved the character creation actually and that was the main thing I did in these games.

Likely just console warring. PS2 kids will say anything that isn't Smackdown vs Raw is shit, and Gamecube kids will say anything that isn't Day of Reckoning is shit (even though SvR and DoR are pretty much the same game).

Fire Pro is more for autists that want to sim matches rather than play a game. No Mercy is always recommended for a reason although it does feel a little janky now. Here Comes the Pain is my favorite but some wrestlers are very overpowered and the AI cheats in story mode. Not retro but WWE 2k14 is really good and the last decent entry in the series. Smackdown vs Raw 2006 and 2007 are also great. Day of Reckoning probably has the best career mode.

>>8733417
SmackDown vs Raw 2009 is my favorite one. Don't watch modern WWE if you're trying to get into wrestling though, it's fucking garbage nowadays. Check out AEW or better yet something like NJPW

I'm mostly into the over the top story and showmanship with this sort of thing.

if you want some cringekino, there's mdickie's wrestling empire
it's not a very well made game honestly but it's still fun to play for a while like most of his stuff, you can shoot a guy in the ring and there's some backdoor skirmishes every now and then too

This game is really weird. You have a schedule each show and can rest, attack people backstage, set traps and you can get a marlin from under the stage. Also you can customize wrestlers to a stupid degree. Even modify the real ones.

Based Goldberg being the cover guy. Wrestling was foolish to not seriously get behind him and push him to the moon. I don't care if he sucked at wrestling. Just protect him and have him train harder to get better, he always wanted to be better anyways in his own words its just that his career took off way too fast so he kind of got screwed there. The guy was mega dimes and the fact he is still around today doing meme matches is a testament to that. Had Goldberg even had slightly better ability to where he was at Rock, Austin or even Haitches level he'd have been the best wrestler and draw in the past two decades. If he was as good at wrestling as Angle forget about it. He'd be GOAT for sure.

Yeah I am a Goldberg mark. I don't care.

Late 90s WWE is good for that, but yeah, I still suggest avoiding modern WWE. It's the most boring shit imaginable

if you want to hear about some fun stories, watch the dark side of the ring series also. I've gotten a few people into wrestling by recommending it.

as for games, I think hear comes the pain on PS2 is the best. really fun single player mode.
