Every retro soundtrack is some take on jazz fusion/prog/electronic/orchestral. At least Doom had a metal soundtrack. Why did retro devs hate loud guitar music so much?

OK so a little disappointed that out of those 20 something links almost all of them are from just 3 games. It's all in that sort of prog metal style which is all over the place in early 2000s vidya. Japanese composers just love those power metal leads paired with keys. Not really my thing unless I'm in the right mood. Also was looking more for mid 90s or earlier, preferably pre-CD era, which you only sent one example of, and it was pretty weak. Of course I didn't clarify that. Anyways that's just how I feel. Nuthin' personal, kid.

The Mega Drive soundcard definitely did a better job with making a heavy guitar tone than the SNES. .

Guys like GG Alin that took shits on stage and flogged themselves during performances just couldn't write mainstream music. Either through being hacks, or a lack of desire to sell out
