In some weird way, I want to see an HD remaster of Bart vs the Space Mutants. But done in a style that looks like season 1 and 2 of the TV series and is still set in in the season 1 and 2 time frame. No Simpsons references beyond season 2, basically.

I actually think the earliest seasons were the most grounded, as far as characters go. The series didn't get 'wackier' until season 3. But even then, the original show did feel a bit surreal. Though, I remember when "Do the Bartman" was a hit single. Also the song was written by Michael Jackson.

I think they said that they had to use a different animation studio for this music video. Yeah, Michael Jackson stealthy produced the song. I think he wrote lyrics for it, and maybe performed some background vocals? IDK. It has some great animation.

I'd argue that though the show was well past its golden and silver age by season 10, it had a fair bit of pretty good stuff going still up to around season 14 or so, even if it's not even close to as good as the stuff from before season 10, and then with some occasional good stuff here and there up to the movie (which was kind of ok, but not that memorable).
After the movie, it started to feel more and more painfully mediocre, and eventually bad.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I wish they had made a Simpsons game similar to the Beavis & Butt-head game.

>Pick between Homer and Bart
>visit iconic places in Springfield
>Bart has to solve a puzzle that requires an item from a place forbidden for him (strip club/power plant/bar)
>Homer gets the item and drops it
>Bart picks it up
>Bart solves the puzzle but gets into trouble
>Homer has to.. wait I think I just summed up Maniac Mansion with the Simpsons.
