How many controllers do you have for a specific system? Any console you prioritize more than others?

You can use a geneshart controller on Atari Systems so you're probably better off with that since Atari sticks suck ass and break constantly

I use SNES and Dualshock 2 on most of my original hardware via adapters, and an xbone elite/hori stick for PC emulation.

Would you consider a Dualshock 4 by comparison to be better for PS1 and PS2 games? For actual hardware; I currently have a few PS1 controllers, one PS2 oem controller and a few of pic related

I have never used one so I couldn't tell you. Dualshock 2 is my favorite, and I have to admit the Xbox elite is pretty good and has a decent clicky d-pad.

I haven't experienced any issues so maybe I'm lucky? I'm sure it will wear out for the kids playing 10 hour daily fortnite sessions. I've used it for SMW hacks and the odd translated jrpg here and there

I probably have the most controllers for the ps2 and the snes. PS2 because I bought every one I saw at thrift stores and snes because I bought a box of them. I also have a healthy amount of gamecube controllers.

I have a couple priorities
Cheap (inexpensive) stuff. I rarely pay more than a buck for a controller but will take pretty much anything in good condition. I might pay a bit more for a decent 1st party stick. I have way too many HSS-0136s and keep buying more. I'll probably unload some when logistics are less erratic.
Weird shit. I have a buttload of controllers that were designed to work with only one or maybe a few games. And as long as it's not complete garbage, odd 3rd party. I have a large collection of that.
There's no point in me prioritizing by console. I have pretty much anything and if I ever have too much of something I can always sell some.

I just a DualShock 4 for everything now that will accept one. It’s lasted a good 2-3k hours of use now, so good value. To answer your question, no more than two controllers per system so I can play with a friend.

I get a few, typically so I can enjoy multiplayer games with friends. I prioritize probably the Saturn more than others since the controller fits my hands so well. I used Sega Saturn controllers to play all sorts of other games on other systems too through adapters or emulation.
