About to buy this bad boy (Arcade1up - Marvel vs Capcom Gaming Table) from Best Buy for $700 to put in my downstairs office room for my crew and our kids to enjoy. 5 fighting games I've played, and 3 other games I never heard of. Anything I should know before I purchase it? Tier lists, cheap characters with gimmicks, notable counter-picks etc? I'm a machine at Marvel Vs Capcom 2 which is not on here sadly, but I need a 360 controller to really lay down hard clean skill in it, I'm not so hot with arcade sticks.

Is this imperfect emulation with shoddy controls? Is it going to break within a few short years of buying it? Either way I'm buying it but I'm just very curious about those 2 aspects before I do.

Yeah, cocktail cabs are shit, outside of a few rare exceptions. They're passible-ish for single-player games, but awkward as hell for multiplayer games (with a couple of rare exceptions, like that modern 4 player Pac-man game), since both players are forced to look at the screen sideways when they play.

If you absolutely must get one of these pieces of garbage, I'm pretty sure there's an upright version that has the same games on it.

Depends on how rough you or the kids are with it.
This thing sucks. Small LCD screen. Shit form factor. Bad emulation. Input lag. Only a few games.

$700 would go so far to make an awesome retro set-up that would just stomp the shit out of this retarded thing. Don't do it.

Just get a good quality HDTV that is guaranteed for low input lag and connect a PC to it. Buy some arcade sticks if you want arcade controls.

Playing these 8 roms for free crowded around my PC seems unfashionable and uncomfortable, when viewed in comparison to playing these 8 roms for $700 dollars on this sweet 90s nostalgia inducing trendy apparatus... $700 is not a big fucking deal to me especially since I've recently decided to be less frugal and start blowing through some of my savings before this new inflation scenario gets more and more exponentially out of control soon and/or before the covid19 vaccine gives me a stroke like it did my aunt and/or worse before the covid19 vaccine murders me at any given fucking random second like it murdered my father and my 2 neighbors. Can't spend my money if I'm dead 2 years from now can I? And I can't spend the money if its valueless 2 years from now either can I? So I'll spend it while I still have the chance.

I'm also just finishing having an addition put on my house for my brothers family to move in with my family, so I figured this $700 accessory will be a nice cozy charm now that the place will be more crowded what with our circle of friends over more often going forward. Also it pisses me the fuck off that all our kids will never truly know the epic 90s arcade experience what with them all being born in this awful post 9/11 shithole pic related world. These 8 roms played on this 2ish by 3ish foot machine will give them at least a tiny little silver of a taste of the 90s, where as these 8 roms played on a PC emulator would do no such thing.

Cocktail arcades (that's what they're actually called) serve exactly one purpose - to have something to do as you have a drink. Because you actually have a place to put the said drink. They're not very comfortable for actual gaming, because you would be looking at a pretty uncomfortable angle. It's a table first and an arcade machine second.
They were a thing in Japan, in the golden age of arcades, but were ultimately phased out by candy cabs.

Since you frens are saying this POS has a short lifespan, I'm going to throw in an extra $200 for the 2 year replacement warranty so if it survives 1 year 11 months I'll screw the control sticks to secure a new one to lengthen lifespan. My cousin on the other coast owns 2 arcades is kind of saying the same thing, implied it would not last long in his place of business with 16ish hours daily use and kids banging on it, but said it should have somewhat decent survivability in my home if we're gentle with it.
