"Hidden gems" aren't a thing. For years now we had the internet and emulators. Actual videogame players have found such games on their own and have always discussed them. What pumps the price and the interest in such games is an entirely different cancer: it's the YouTubers and Streamers audiences.

It happens all the time. Sometimes, some games naturally develop a large following over time, as was the case with Chrono Trigger or Earthbound. And then you have ecelebs dig up games that flew under the radar and their audience will massively inflate the price.

Think of Wild Guns. Hardcore fans of 4th and 5th gen shooters like Metal Slug already knew games like Wild Guns and Rapid Reload (or Gunner's Heaven). Then, remember when le ebin Game Grumps played it back in 2012? Its price skyrocketed.

Sure, such things also affect games that were already expensive and are even more expensive now, like Chrono Trigger and Earthbound. And then there was the coof pandemic and other factors, etc. The point is, there are no hidden gems anymore. You could find some less known titles up to, say, 2010 or so, but that's over.

There still exists titles for ecelebs to touch, and they will touch them, and they will explode in price. There's still 360 and PS3 games, and maybe a handful of PS2 games.

That might show there is interest in the game, as was the case with Wild Guns which had a Steam and new gen release, but most of the time, those games are in copyright limbo.

>shouldn't you already own the game? what makes you different from the other bandwagoners if you don't?
That's just retarded. Obviously, no one already owns all the games they could want, few could possibly afford that, which is made worse as price increases, and then there is the fact that there are still games you will eventually find and play. This is a negative for those who want to actually play the damn games? Do you think the majority of people will play and beat them legit? The purpose is for coomlecting, so obviously there is a trade off that will affect those who actually want the games to play.

Besides, there's no "complaining about ecelebs raising the prices", Mr. NPC. It's merely being pointed out the concept of "hidden gems" is something entirely different now and that is one of the causes.

"no one needs to validate the games existence for you" - You'd think fans of a game would have at least one positive thing to say about it.
"play it or don't" - I'll play it if it sounds interesting.
"it's also not an rpg" - wikipedia begs to differ.

yes you and every other teenage faggot who's only experience with retro games is playing Mario, Zelda, Sonic, and Chrono Trigger constantly needing to be given a reason to play a video game older than you are does touch a nerve.
You were told the game was good, and you still needed to know if it was some magical quirky unknown classic because otherwise there's no point in wasting your time to play something to you. How about you type the game name into YouTube and watch 10 minutes of it being played and see if it interests you instead of needing to verify you'll get super hardcore gamer cred for having played it. Or preferably, just go hang yourself.

Your post reeks of bitter insecurity, but at least you got one thing right...
There is no point in me wasting my time on boring and uninteresting games.
Maybe you don't value your time - but let me remind you. Every second you spend playing dull and unimaginative filler is leading you to your inevitable demise.
You only get so much time to experience all of the cool shit this medium has to offer before that time comes.

About 10 years ago a retro store opened right across from Gamestop in my neighborhood(you can imagine how well that went), and they have Musashi there. Something I've been really wanting to get since I played the demo and a friend let me borrow it but wanted it back when I was only halfway through.

It was $55 even then. I just looked and it seems like around $100. Prices doubling is bad but it was always pretty expensive.
