Sup /vr/. I finally got a PS3 and I'm looking to play some of the PS1 classics that I didn't get to experience when they were new. What are the must have PS1 games on the Playstation Store?

PSX games are not affected by the nostalgia bubble, just buy them from a thrift shop and play them on your PS3.

It's pretty slim pickings around my area unfortunately. My local Goodwill had some shitty licensed games and that was about it. The other place nearby that sells old games didn't have much of a selection. I figure $5.99 to $9.99 on the Playstation Store is fairly reasonable. So far I've downloaded, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy IX.

Oh, but it's not a nostalgia bubble, it's a hipster bubble. Poor choice of words.

okay you know what I meant. nostalgia bubble, hipster bubble, whatever. it seems to be almost entirely a Nintendo phenomenon

There was a nostalgia bubble in the early 2000s for 2nd gen games, but it died pretty fast and never got to be out of hand or jack up game pries through the roof.

Good point. There might be some nostalgiafags, but then we're not seeing Sega or PS1 game prices going up much. Surely people would have nostalgia for those systems?

I remember the 2nd gen bubble. That was completely ok because they were nostalgiafags. What's happening now is not ok because it's a bunch of 90s babby hipsters who don't even play games, they buy the things as a trophy to say "Oh hai look I has Earthbound am i cool yet?"

I would imagine Saturn prices are higher right? Very few of its best games are readily available for download on the current gen consoles.

Dunno about that, but the majority of non-1st party Sega games have either aged horribly or were never good to begin with.

That has more to do with the rarity of them than anything else. It's not like idiots paying $300 for common-as-dirt SNES games.

The only 2nd gen games that sold for $$$ were rarities like Chase The Chuck Wagon

The only retro system (not according to /vr/ though) that is not from Nintendo that has been affected by the Nostalgia/Hipster Bubble is the Sega Dreamcast.

Yes. It had every single ultra-popular game in the arcades. And it was the most powerful machine for more than a year.

It was very obscure.
