To be fair the Air Devil is just a smaller version of the original, but I remember being super pissed off as a kid about the Sea Duck having barely anything to do with the original.
Even the toy was pushing it in terms of redesign

What was up with legendary wings? Those faces in the ground freaked me out back then plus you went INSIDE them. I recall renting that game one weekend while my mom was sick. The whole house was dark and this game just bummed me out.

It was in the tools and experience they gained in making the engine powering the Megaman games which laid a solid foundation for the great NES games Capcom made with the Disney license. Konami did pretty good with their licenses then as well, and I don't know if I'd favor Capcom over them but they both might be equal.

Duck Tales was the first game I was able to beat as a really young kid. And I think Chip n Dale was the second or close to it. Thinking I might start my kids off with Disney Capcom NES games.
