What pixellated 2D game do you find to be the most aesthetically pleasing?

>> No.862736

>>862731

Damn near every one of those PC98 games that get posted in pixel threads. Something about that look, man. It gets to me and makes me feel warm for reasons I do not understand.

A more popular example in the west? SNK games, but I care more about the fighters than anything else.

And I don't just mean in the sense of detailed to the point of looking like a painting, but also the artistic choices and stylistic flow. Oracle of Seasons for GBC doesn't look that great, but I love the contrast of the seasons while I'm playing it.

Most GBA games. I don't know what it is about that handheld, but most of its games had that weird charm. It's not even nostalgia, I never had a GBA as a teen.

I like the different atmosphere that this game was given with the different weather effects and seasons. I prefer the look of the SNES one to the GBA one because it's a bit darker and gives a more authentic feeling of being a farmer.

Any Metal Slug comes in second, just because of how smoothly everything is animated.

Do you understand how communities in general work, I mean like, do you understand why?

There was a nominal amount of discussion on /v/ regarding Retro Games. And it would often be hard to keep a thread on the main page. It's called "consolidation."

By giving people of like-minded interest their own board, it makes it easier for topic-starters to find their target audience easier.
