What games did you put the most amount of hours into as a kid? Or are there any strange games that you were oddly addicted to?

If you count out the hundreds of hours I put into Pokemon on long car rides, it probably would be Chrono Trigger. I've beaten that game like 7 times.

>> No.8617929

Zelda 1 probably.

Barring Gens 1 and 2 of Pokemon, probably DQ3 on GBC, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Aria of Sorrow and Advance Wars 1 and 2. I know I have a hundred hour or more save file on FFTA for sure, and I collected all the souls and I think 100% the map in Aria of Sorrow.

Posted before I could finish my post. I'm nowhere near underaged B& material, but I was not allowed free choice of video games until I was in my late teens, thus the huge amounts of time invested in GBA games.

Probably FF7. I was 8 years old and got all characters to level 99 and just used to endlessly wander around the world

>> No.8617965

SMB 3 and World
Vigilante 8 on N64
Melee
Tales of Symphonia
And RE4

As I get older I replay things less just because there's so much more out there that I want to try and so little time.

It only works if you're playing on original hardware as the best part of the entire thing is the gimmick that allows you to use virtually any CD on planet earth to create a monster with. You'll lose a lot of the fun with emulation.

brawl, galaxy 1 and 2, wii sports, bowser's inside story, and animal crossing new leaf. not underage dw and for the last one 13 is basically a kid. with a couple exceptions like zelda 1 and the mother games, i didn't really get into retro games into around 16, maybe 15.

>> No.8618080

>>8618049
Yup, that'll do it. As long as it can read the unique identifier on each CD you should be in good shape. To complete the experience you need a notebook with poorly scrawled cd names of your favorite monsters, and a 2L of coke.....or because we're all 50 now, beer.

Not who you replied to but I can recommend the sequel.

Confusingly, MR1 was never released in PAL territories, so when MR2 was released in the EU it was released as "monster Rancher" . There's no real story continuity so you don't lose anything by starting in the superior sequel with more monsters etc

From ages like 9-11 I played almost nothing but this. A large chunk of my free time was spent just wandering around in the game. As soon as I finished I would restart. Not sure why I was so obsessed but I would buy crazy merch of ebay too like lunchboxes, keychains, stickers and books and make a little Parasite Eve shrine in my room.

Beating the game and finishing the extra dungeon doesn't take nearly 100 hours. The first one is longer just because of the fucking 100 floor dungeon.

I spent an insane amount of hours on this, both Usa and Japan versions. Knew every bit, every command, every hidden move. It got to the point where I could disable the input command hud in the options and still beat the game effortless.

Age of Empires 1
Being a dumb kid meant i got a ton of mileage out of the campaigns, not to mention making arenas in the scenario editor for mass battles and such.
Also fucking Moto Racer, never was much of a racing game fan but good lord i replayed that a lot.

Halo 2. Would play the campaign non-stop and would start from the start everytime I began a new session. I've memorised most of the maps from the game that I could see them in my sleep. My favourite level was the one (Regret, I believe) where you go underwater in that elevator. That scene wowed me so much because it was so mystical.
Other games I have played for a long time include DQ7 (fuck, that was a long game) and more recently, Halo Reach (2000+ I reckon).

Not because it can be a long game, but I don't know if anyone else did this, but whenever I stepped away from a game for even.. let's say 3 weeks, a month, I'd always start a new file. No matter how far I was. I'd restart.
I'd do this with every game.

that would be probably FF7 as it was first game for me to hook me up on the jRPGs and the whole "harem" thing.

This also includes the fact that my PlayStation 1 save file gor corrupted when on the submarine part and I had to re-grind it.

Other then that it will be Morrowind

The PC/Switch rerelease has a workaround for this, a database you can search which is surprisingly extensive. I've found literal who artists on it. The game is otherwise relatively unchanged - just a few basic improvements, the most substantial of which is that monsters no longer wait for their guts to regen before attacking so much.

Streets Of Rage 2

on Easy or Very Easy, it is an absolute cakewalk, and my brothers and I would start up a game, cruise through it, enjoy the music, and feel satisfied every time. we had so many disappointing rentals for the Genesis, so if a game sucked, we'd just play SoR2 again.
