I gave Wind Waker a chance and LOVED it!

As a kid I saw the art and wrote this off as “Cellda” garbage. I’m still not a fan of the catroonyness, but decided to give it a look having recently acquired a Gamecube. It felt a little too on rails at first, but after the master sword it really opened up and was just awesome.

Free sailing around, looking for treasure or whatever else was out there, it was just awesome. I saw people complaining on here about the Triforce hurt, but I thought that was the best part of the game. It felt like all the pirate legends, cruising around the open seas in an epic treasure hunt, also it felt really good filling in that empty triangle in the menu screen (after it being permanently empty in OOT) and actually getting the Triforce for the first time in a long time. The game does some serious flaws, like the combat difficulty (I beat the whole thing without dying wtf) but I thought the uniqueness/adventure of a seafaring game and the quality dungeons ultimately made up for it. The side quests were really great and didn’t feel tedious. It’s definitely the most open ended Zelda game behind BOTW.

Overall I liked it the most out of all the shorter/quirkier Zelda games like Majora’s Mask and Link’s Awakening, more than the NES games and Skyward Sword, but not as much as the “Epic” games like Link to the Past and OOT. Anyone who skipped this 20 years ago like I did should check it out, I admit that we really missed out

It’s my personal favorite 3D Zelda. I’m a total sucker for pirates and high seas adventure plus I think this game has the best versions of Link, Zelda and Ganondorf.

The exploration was the worst part for me.
Very repetitive content, all for bad rewards that you don't need because the game is extremely easy.
100%ing WW was a miserable experience. Well more like 99% because it was immediately obvious that the figurines were a complete waste of time.

it hits different when you're depressed and get stoned, i ended up envisioning a sequel, and hoping it got a PC source port with more islands and multiplayer

Other than that I thought it was pretty gewd.

This but Wind Waker sucks and Twilight Princess is better

TP is better, yes, but Wind Waker is really great

it really is a horrible game
it's the shining example of what *not* to do in a game

My favorite Zelda game

The only thing Twilight Princess has going for it is the amount of dungeons, it shits the bed in almost every other category

I'm a sucker for the tropical theme and the colourful art direction. TP was a great game in its own right but the sepia palette does nothing for me. WW is peak comfy.
I agree that the sailing was great but obviously it's because I'm that kind of player. I didn't care for Skyward Sword's tight, linear experience. But I'll canter around in RDR2 without doing quests for hours, and I did the Tarry Town quest in BoTW without fast travelling. I'm just the kind of guy who really likes to take things slow and soak up the world, even if there's not much to do in it.

Same, which is why I love WW and BOTW but hate Skyward Sword. In BOTW I had the master sword before I even did any of the dungeons. Wind Waker’s 2nd half was pure open ended exploration which I really loved. I can’t think of another game that open world that’s done almost entirely at sea

Why do all these threads that say that Windwaker is good always come off as so disingenuous and troll-ish

>> No.8603940

>>8601031
it would be a great game if it weren't for
>being rushed to all shit
>having a pitiful number of dungeons
>having most of the islands be literally pointless
to me it just represents missed opportunities because they forced it out as soon as they could to desperately try to help gamecube sales.

skyward sword was fucking awful, legitimately one of the worst first party releases from nintendo ever and i mean that

It's not even tropical, unless you consider islands and ocean tropical.

>>8603931
Because they are. Trannies find it enraging that most people think little of WW so they have to make these threads every week claiming to have played it for the first time and enjoyed it. It's not supposed to seem like a troll, they just lack so much self-awareness they think this reads as a legitimate post.

Completely agree, I couldn't even fully play it because of the motion control shit
Did the remake fix anything or was it just a 1:1 with zero effort?

>> No.8604258

>>8604240
They made motion controls optional and added sword swinging to right analog, a lot of Fi comments are now optional, and they added a quality of life feature behind a scalped amiibo of Zelda and her goonybird.

i've heard some rumblings about text speed being higher and fi being able to fuck off but the controls sound like fucking ass on controller and i dont have the patience for waggleshit nowadays

Wtf is disingenuous about a 3 paragraph commentary stating many of the flaws of this game and ultimately ranking it below several others? I played it and posted about it

Nailed it, Skyward Sword is the most disappointing game I’ve ever played and I played Goldeneye 2. It’s the only mainline Zelda I never finished nor want to finish.

To think, IGN gave this a 10/10
