What are the Everdrive equivalents for the PS1, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2, and Xbox?

ODEs and hard drives

>Dreamcast
GDEMU
>Gamecube
GCLoader - probably unnecessary because Wii has good SD/USB loaders though.
>PS2
Sadly doesn't exist, so stick with OpenPS2Loader.
>Xbox
Doesn't exist but that's okay because softmod/tsop/modchip works great.

using this thread to ask, can i use a SATA hard drive with an xbox using an IDE to SATA adapter? IDE is so much more expensive for the same amount of storage and swapping games in and out over FTP gets to be a pain in the ass after a while.

>> No.8587838

Yes, that's fine. Although I have a TSOP console, I'm not sure if the locking situation is the same for SATA drives.

compatability list says you're coping with that half statement.
Also, if I do find a game. What EVER will I do? Surely I won't just burn a DVD and play it on my disc drive that isn't being overused due to the majority of things being networked loaded. OH NO.

That compatibility list is full of complaints about stutter when using SMB. There are also some games which do work on HDD but not on SMB according to this list, like the PAL version of MGS2 or Shadow Man 2.

SMB stutter is much less likely on most slims than fats due to hardware changes giving it faster transfer speeds. I don't tend to run into stutter issues on my own slim. But since it's there for fats, and fats can use HDDs without this problem, it just makes more sense to do that instead.
It's a shame the compatibility list doesn't say which model the compatibility test was performed with because of that.

>>8587947
Yeah that db is a bit lacking in terms of breakouts.
Also, clearly the answer here is Chad masterrace slim and fat ownership.

I have both. The slim optical is shot. Fat has a functioning optical drive. I used FreeDVDBoot to mod its and the slims MCs from the fat.

I bought an aftermarket PATA to SATA adapter for my ethernet adapter but it doesn't detect after so I had to undo the mod. I want an HDD in my fat but don't want to deal with PATA.

If you upgrade the HDD in a softmodded Xbox using Chimp to clone from master (old HDD) to slave (new HDD), Chimp will offer to lock the drive after it's done setting it up. As long as you use a 40-pin 80-wire IDE cable and an IDE-to-SATA adapter with a slave mode jumper, Chimp should have no trouble reading and locking the HDD.
The most ironic thing is that upgrading the HDD in a softmodded Xbox is a lot more stressful than doing a TSOP mod. You have to get the Xbox setup in such a way that, once you boot into Chimp, you can comfortably unplug the DVD drive's IDE cable and hotplug it into the IDE-to-SATA adapter while the adapter is connected to the HDD. It's best to give the adapter itself some cushion, because it takes a lot more pressure to seat a 40-pin IDE cable than it does to unseat a SATA connection. If the back of the adapter facing the HDD isn't insulated, the adapter board can flex and some of the pins on the back can touch the HDD and create a short that, while not extremely dangerous, might lock up the console and force you to restart from scratch until you successfully hot-slave the new HDD.
Once you're ready to clone, you only really need to clone the C & E partitions. If you're going for 1 TB or under, you can get by with one >900GB F partition. If you go for 2TB, you'll need to split the remaining space between F&G.
It's good to install XBPartitioner alongside Chimp, as Chimp tends to fuck up F&G partitions despite doing a good job of cloning.
It should also be noted that it's strongly recommended to use an official Microsoft controller for Chimp. Not sure why but apparently generics cause lots of problems.

For PS1, PS2 and PS3 in one device get an original japanese fat PS3. Transfer game to the HDD via network.

>Saturn
Phoebe/Rhea or Fenrir. I have the former and it's excellent, but I had to buy it overpriced in ebay.

>Dreamcast
GDEMU or a Chinese clone. I probably got the latter because they are almost identical to the eye. Only 1 game won't run. Everything else is perfect.

>GameCube
Get a backwards compatible Wii.

>Xbox
Softmod is very easy to do. Same network idea as PS3.

To someone that is familiar with the GDEMUs, would this be a good bundle for an alleged v5.20?

Also, is there anything I need to know about my model V1 before I order a GDEMU? I saw some people talking about crystals not matching their system or something.

A softmodded, early Wii gives the ability to load GC games & also the arcade games like Mario Kart Arcade GP 1, 2 & F-Zero AX from the USB port. You can also transfer GC saves to the computer and back. The only thing you need for the process is downloading some things onto an old SD card to slide in the front. I'm also not sure if you can transfer save files with a modded GC that easily, so it's definitely a bonus.
