Science has proven it's impossible to like these two games equally

>> No.8579395

Well yeah. X3 is hilariously bad. But that's the case for the entire X franchise. Each game is worse than the last.

>Each game is worse than the last
This would've been true only if X7 was the last game in the franchise.

>> No.8579413

X2 is forgettable while X3 is at the very least divisive.

I dunno, I like them pretty equally. X1 and X4 are better in my opinion though.

Only thing I really don't like about X3 is that the music loops very quickly in comparison to X1 and most of X2. I felt like they cheaped out and just did the minimum of work to give it a Megaman X soundtrack.

From a presentation standpoint, X1 is obviously the best, but I like X2 the most out of the SNES trilogy from a pure gameplay standpoint: it has the absolute fastest paced level design in the series. Every stage felt like it was built from the ground up to be dashed through as quickly and stylishly as possible without slowing down. I'm not into tranny speedrunner shit but I really enjoy just blasting through the stages in X2 as quickly as possible. None of the other X games have that IMO, and X2 has just enough QoL improvements over 1.

X3 I don't hate. It's not a bad game. It has a few interesting ideas, setpieces, and levels. But its levels are a bit more stop and go with tanky roadblock enemies and too many bosses who's pattern boils down to charging you horizontally and making you wall jump to evade over and over.

They’re both alright and they both have an equal amount of flaws and positives. That being said I’d rather play X2 over 3 but they’re hardly my go-to X games

Not him, but maybe he was saying that the music in X3 is so lame and lacking nuance that you don't follow it as closely, and as a result it feels like it loops very quickly. Except Gravity Beetle though, that track is fire.

>> No.8584303

I actually prefer X3's soundtrack for the most part. But I wish the PS1 version of the soundtrack wasn't so lame. If they had followed the straightforward heavy metal style of the original music, it could've made for a truly intense soundtrack that elevated X3. Instead they made the music more jazzy and poppy and removed all energy from the music, making the game feel slower.

You only need to play X1, X2 and X4.

X2 has the best item collecting route in the series and is also my favorite as a result
X3's is too messy for my liking

>> No.8584695

>>8584252
X4's level design is honestly on par with X3 (average/middle of the road). A lot of stages aren't that fun, or get repetitive, or are filled with autoscroller shit, or have tanky roadblock enemies. Final stages feel unfinished.

But it's soooooo fucking aesthetic a game.

>> No.8584707

>>8584695
>filled with autoscroller shit
The only autoscrolling stage is Jet Stingray's and 1/3rd of Split Mushroom's. It's X5 that has a lot of that.

>> No.8584727

>>8584695
>filled with autoscroller shit
The only autoscroller in the whole of X4 is the Split Mushroom elevator, which puts it in the same category as X1 with the Boomer Kuwanger elevator. I'd argue that's even more of one cause the spiked walls disallow wall-jumping.

X3's stages are such a fucking flatline, there's barely any difference within levels, specially after coming from 2 which has such creative level design. X1 also had the sort of problem you'r describing minus ,the "roablock" enemies you can still bypass, guess you don't mean miniobosses? Cause if you just mean the death cannon guys, X1 has those kind of enemies as well, the rocket launcher dudes and the turtles, they can all be bypassed. X1 and X4's level design is pretty on par if you ask me, and by the time of X4 the gimmicks and shifting of stages incorporated are not perfect, but make them miles more distinct and more fun to pay than X4. Which is perfect for the kind of action-oriented game X4 is. Just like X1.

>Final stages feel unfinished
However you are very right with this, it's the worst thing about X4 by far, what a letdown.

X3 is not unplayable, it's better than X5-X7 for sure, I'd rank it below X1-2 and 4 but above those. Maybe it can share the tier with X8 cause that game has what you're saying about X4 to a fucking tee.

>> No.8584774

>>8579391
The final stages of X2 are such a wet fart of an ending to an otherwise excellent level design.

Serges and Agile's fights are obnoxious in buster-only runs and design wise they're boring and ugly, Violen's fight is just recycled in the laziest way possible, though seeing how the other two turned out, maybe it was for the best. Worst of all, Sigma doesn't even get his own level or music, they just recycled a quarter of Magna Centipede's level and the intro music, that's pretty fucked up and I can't think of any other Mega Man game off the top of my head that ever did that, I guess Mega Man 3's last two Wily levels were both just a single screen and boss, but you know that, at least that screen layout wasn't something you can see elsewhere in the game, and the music was exclusive to those two levels.

X8 sucks ass and the only reason it gets away with it is because it is inevitably compared with X7

I genuinely think X6 is better.

>> No.8584804

>>8584778
Correction: X8 gets a pass because it is inevitably compared with X5-X7. Small mercy but I still think X5-X6 are so cheap, ugly and downright obtusely stupid, X8's admittedly big flaws are tiny by comparison. X8 belongs with X3.

There is some fun to be had at all in 8, which is more than I can say about the others.

X8's gimmicky level design and metal grinding prevent me from enjoying a single level.

X5 and X6 still have some enjoyable levels despite what people say, even if they have to be played a certain way (yeah, I don't mind using the special weapon to kill the donuts).

Better than dealing with pretty much everything being botched in X6, those disgusting nightmare viruses, the obtuse-ass, restrictve level design, everything, everything is bad anon. nothing is fun in X6. That's a couple stages of X8, there are more annoying gimmicks than the game needed, yes it sucks ass but all of X6 is tripe.

Also Ground Scaravich's music is fucking torture

Well, despite what people say, half of X8's stages are perfectly normal and workable, X6 is all gimmicks and none of them are fun, and the gimmick shit goes beyond the level design, in line with X5. I never got these systems.

>grinding metals
Dude it's absolutely optional and gets less in the way than saving reploids in X6, now that is terrible and intrusive, and with the fucking nigthmare viruses making it even worse, it's the fucking worst thing ever man. I absolutely agree 8 is overrated but please don't ever say X6 is better, it hurts my soul, I hate that game so much, it's the worst thing with the Megaman name in it, at least X7 was the result of inexperience and ambition, X6 is just the worst.

What a joke anon, I don't know wether to laugh or cry. Brun Rooster might be the worst stage in any Megaman ever but 4+ minutes in a stage consisting of that supposed to be anything other than terrible is so fucking sad. Anyways can't you catch up to the Jellyfish guy in like 20 seconds in X8? That means X8 wins this contest of farts in which no one actually playing the game wins

No it is just simply cringe trolling. For some reason X3 has a few really retarded autists or maybe even just one schizo autist that have came up with every odd reason to spread this meme of X3 being a terrible game when it is absolutely not. X3 had tons of great songs across the whole game and he has been exposed as a lying idiotic shit. Don't try to defend it. Bunch of tracks posted that easily debunk the stupid shit.

X5 on the other hand, the first thing I remember from it is how much I fucking hated Duff Mcwhalen's stage. It was a miserable experience. Metal Shark Player's stage on the other hand was quite thrilling.

X3, X5 and X6 are okay, worth playing if you're a big fan but nothing to write home about.
