I always liked the interactive turn-based combat over just picking options, but they should've stuck to timed hits. Mashing buttons or wiggling the control stick is as retarded as in Mario Party.

Also has anyone figured out how to emulate it without flickering video, black character sprites, no blur effects, etc?

And the scare everything away attack is convenient.
Anyway you get the quick change badge pretty early and after that it's like having one partner with everyone's moves anyway.
