>just turn your SNES on and off like a madman to play with the OP TMNT boss characters bro

From the Mexican Club Nintendo magazine back in '94. They released the actual code the very next issue.

I literally summarized it. The "trick" was to turn the console on and off really quickly until it somehow magically unlocked Rat King and Karai, as well as their stages and a few other things.

I remember reading a tip that you can "find R2D2" in the Bombchu Bowling Alley in OOT. They were talking about this.

In other words, you have to fry the cartridge, just like you have to do to get the stage select from Sonic 3D Blast.

My brother and I get a kick out of reading issues from around the time the 32-bit consoles were coming out, the SNES had no CD add-on, and the N64 was nowhere in sight to compete, so just as you would think, you got a ton of "well they're not that good anyway, the SNES can easily do all that" and other hilarious cope.

I remember reading about a trick in gaming magazines here in the US that is horrific but works. It goes something like this: start up Altered Beast in your Genesis, right when it gets to the title screen, rip that fucker right out of the cartridge slot, insert Revenge of Shinobi, hit reset, and the game is now "The Super Shinobi". I think it was Gamepro or EGM, since tips/tricks/codes was what supposedly sold gaming magazines so they tend to have an emphasis on it in US publications.

For me was when they called GTA a violent and bad game but celebrated when the True Crime games and Gun came to the GameCube, not to mention China Town Wars.
