Hey guys, I recently came to visit the family for vacation and I decided to get rid of stuff in my room I don't need anymore. One thing I came across is this Megaman movie for dvd. I do not remember how or when I bought this. Anyone know what this may go for because I can't seem to find anyone selling it online, thanks.

Well, if no one else is selling it then I suppose there's no standard and you can sell it for whatever you want. What other people would pay, is another matter completely. For the record, the closest equivalent is probably the Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon anime that ADV put on DVD from around the same period and it usually goes for around $10.

That OVA is weird as fuck too. Apparently it was made to teach foreign kids about Japan around the time MM5 came out, but it never released outside of Japan until that DVDs was made.

It was the pilot for the American Mega Man cartoon series. It was passed on but the studio that took over the project took inspiration from it, unfortunately the end result was shit.

It’s an odd little thing. It’s half a mega man ova and half a tourist information film. Like they’ll be all “we have to stop Dr Wily! He’s flying over Tokyo! Let’s follow him” and then they fly over Tokyo and one of the characters starts going on about how Tokyo has a Rich and diverse history, and then into the importance of shrines, the economy and the people while Mega Man nods in agreement. It’s charming but it’s pretty dumb and not really worth watching unless you’re a hardcore fan. It’s based around Mega Man 5 too, so you get to see Charge Man and Stone Man fannying about.

It was not the pilot for the Ruby Spears show. You don't produce a three-part OVA just use as a sales-pitch to create an entirely different cartoon overseas. They DID have the same animation company do a demo reel to sell American studios on producing an American cartoon, since they had been doing the commercials for Rockman since MM3.

Considering that weirdo travelogue edutainment things were big back then, it's not so crazy. Off the top of my head, 2 Disney movies (Saludos Amigos and The Three Cabbilleros) and an Inspector Gadget spin-off were literally "Let's use familiar cartoon characters to teach kids about different cultures!"

I think what happened was similar to Sonic SATAM/Adventures of Sonic The Hegehog. They were looking to make a Mega Man cartoon and had more than one option created for that purpose. In Mega Man's case they picked one and dropped the other while in Sonic's they just aired both.

I think around that time networks started enforcing educational programming requirements so maybe that was the catalyst? Mega Man is a weird source for that, though, compared to something like Carmen Sandiego.

Roll's voice in this is the BEST Roll voice imo. IT IS JUST SO CUTE, and fits her perfectly. Also, Roll plays whack a mole, and it is also really cute. She also wears a japanese beauty outfit and gets complimented from her big bro Blues! She also helps her father make a time machine, but that's all I remember, havent watched in a while. Idc what people say, this is best Roll-chan.
