Is there a list somewhere of all the snes arcade sticks that were made?
I looked up that c&Lwas the best. But seems too rare and expensive so i dont want that one.
I have pic related and it works fine. Its just too small so it doesnt feel right.

Both of those suck. Use the Fighting Stick Multi. Or get a raphnet adapter and use a more modern stick

The one on the right. The Capcom Power Stick Fighter is a legit arcade stick using a Sanwa JLW joystick and microswitch buttons. You could hand it to any good player and they would proceed to kick ass on it without much issue.
The left may not even have a microswitched joystick. And the buttons are probably rubber domes.

I'm planning on getting a Power Stick Fighter just for the JLW because that was the standard Japanese stick in the 80s and I want to play games like Final Fight with that feel.

No there are CC to SNES adapters on raphnet which opens the door for you to mod any modern stick to CC connection. Or better yet use the Tatsunoko fight stick on your SNES

That's a good stick too and probably also has a JLW in it.

Cheapest option that is actually pretty easy is to just padhack one of the $5 chinese SNES pads, then put it in the cheapest acceptable stick you can find on ebay, probably one of the ones for Saturn or PlayStation. Those often have acceptable stock parts in them from Hori or Ascii.

I use one of these Hori sticks on occasion. Pretty great quality. Not sure of the make of the stick or buttons, but they feel nice, comparable to the Sanwa stuff in my Astro City cab. It's made of metal, which while it makes it feel sturdy, the one I have has a few rust patches.

Seems kind of risky to order from japan. You might not get it.
And says its out of stock on their ebay site but not their website.
Maybe they build them when you order it.

Those old arcade sticks are almost universally shit. Terrible membrane buttons, and cheap sticks. They did the job but were far removed from their arcade counterparts. The first arcade stick worth a damn was probably the Virtua Stick for Sega Saturn. Only the Japanese version because the Western one looks ugly as sin and the stick is shitty rubber, it's not microswitched. This would eventually become Sega Dreamcast Agetec, probably one of the more iconic "classic" sticks.
But if you want a stick, try to find something modern. Modern sticks have way better parts and are highly customizable.

Any random kid. They're not rare or expensive.
>what games was it even useful for?
None because they are less accurate than a normal NES controller.
>Did it actually work well as a hunk of hardware?
It works alright and is a fun change-up sometimes. As an actual arcade stick it is not hardware accurate since it uses rubber membranes for everything.
