Are there modern controllers with microswitches in joystick (or would it count as a d-pad?) like the Neo Geo controller?

>> No.8520751

There is the PDP Versus. I liked mine but it wore out real quick, and from what I can piece together from other testimonies this isn't uncommon.

>> No.8520794

Razer Raion has a mechanical D-pad.

Hoooow bad does it sink in the middle? D-pads without a very distinct pivot drive me nuts.

Why did I use so many Os?

>> No.8520808

There's a few, but all of them besides the NeoGeo ones break after a week

Could I get a Neo-Geo controller and use an adapter or would I have to sell a kidney?

Have you checked ebay?

You can press it in fully apparently. Can't think of any other controller with a clicky D-pad, sorry.

*sees the $90 price tag* AWWW HEEEELLL NAWW

There has got to be some kind of small micro-switch thumbstick module out there SOMEWHERE in the world for controlling something or other that could be experimented with to create a video game controller.

>> No.8520954

clicky thumbsticks is hard to make

Why is this? Are these switches good enough to warrant even putting it into a controller if it won't even last long?

>> No.8521541

>>8521151
There are Amazon reviews from a few years ago already where NOS ones had the joysticks becoming a sticky mess inside the box.

>Why is this?
Because SNK didn't fuck around and cheap out, hence why they went bankrupt. It's why they're so beloved now. They didn't shit the bed.

I got a few the rubberized coating on the grips has melted with age on them but they are easy to clean with alcohol and work great afterwards besides being delicate feelings like an anon said

>>8520808
Even the Neo Geo ones fuck up, you can't even buy original replacement switches for them, you have to adapt them to work with either parts robbed from GBA or 3D print adaptors to use other micro switches.

Don't you miss the days when companies manufactured THE BEST EQUIPMENT they could because quality build was a virtue?
The NES controller is a very good /vr/ example. It's bullet proof.

I noticed this thing exists, looks like they just gave up on the stick and replaced it with a dreamcast tier d-pad.
