Hey I just beat Majoras Mask this morning for the first time. I had played a bunch of it years ago but on the Wii but now I finally got an expansion pak for my N64 so I could play this off a flashcart.
Some stray thoughts

>I wish more games would do this kind of thing, like an asset flip that kind of breaks the conventions of the original game, and allows the devs to focus on character details rather than sheer spectacle.
>Now having played both, I think the debate over OoT vs MM is fucking stupid because OoT obviously lays the foundation for MM so much that it's impossible to definitively say one is better than the other.
>Clocktown is really fucking impressive for the N64. If you compare it to Ocarina of Time, most of the shops in OoT are like a fixed camera with a pre rendered background. Windfall Island in WW has a lot of charm and obviously takes a lot of influence from Clockdown, but it honestly makes Hyrule Castle Town in TP look like a fucking joke.
>I really like the N64's purple/green/rainbow lighting. I'm assuming this was really easy to do on the N64's hardware, because a lot of games have it. Rainbow Bowser in SM64 and Shooting Star Summit in Paper Mario for example. This game has a ton. Pic related.
>The Couples Mask side quest is phenomenal and really elevates this game to something special.
>Some of the dungeons are some of the best in the series, specifically Snowhead and Stone Tower.
>I like the ethos of this game being, if you put in the work to explore every nook and cranny and help every person, you become immensely powerful by the end, culminating in curbstomping Majora with the fierce diety mask.

All in all a good game, glad I finally played through it.
