Main problem magnet bois have is that they're slow as shit.

The overall meta of early gen pokemon games was getting first turn and sweeping, if you can't do that your moves don't count for much because you'll just get some bullshit status and get dicked around for 5 turns.

It wasnt a bug. Crits were based off of base speed. Electrode has the highest crit chance in that game and some moves were more predestined to crit. Like razor leaf, slash , karate chop.

Those moves were like almost 100 percent guarenteed to crit.

But yeah ratatta or raticate with that move and lots of crits really did whoop ass lmao

I almost wish they'd committed to this in some way mechanically, because its physical strength is still going up with evolution. On a wider scale too, I wish more evolutions had some mild tradeoff instead of skyrocketing the stats so much. I remember watching the anime as a kid where Pikachu leverages its speed and agility over its evolution the bulkier, fatter Raichu, the idea being the Raichu evolution traded speed for raw power... and being terribly disappointed to check back to the games and find out that Raichu is actually faster.

They did my boy dirty. He took the blame for the seizures incident and was banned from the anime forever, even though the lightshow was actually caused by Pikachu.
Also all of the Rotom-themed shit in the newer games should be Porygon-themed instead. Porygon is the virtual Pokemon created by humans that should be logically integrated into technology. Rotom is a fucking ghost.

Now there are plenty of physical water moves he can use to play to his strength.

Love gen 1 but the mechanics were fucked, literally anything could be a special sweeper.

I liked Pokemon best when it wasn't so over saturated with all these monsters. I say around 300 would have been the perfect amount. Now though there is like over a thousand of them. It got to the point where they needed to start evolving old ones into gimmicks like oh here is a black charizard now or here is muk but he's colorful because now he is like oil or some shit. These games barely have a story but like to pretend they do by making the final boss yet another pokemon god and it's just not fun. And the dialogue is so fucking paint by numbers, like every NPC is just regurgitating how important it is to be nice to pokemon, gameplay tips, or saying something related to their one and only defining character trait.

In 2022, this shit's gotta change. The final boss really doesn't have to be a god to make the story feel like it has stakes, and i'm tired of that shit, it was cool in Ruby/Sapphire but they've just retread that road over and over without actually doing anything interesting with it, and they have never once made me care about any of the characters in these games. Now that they've neutered the collecting aspect by axing the national dex, they lost their only saving grace and there is simply no excuse to be mediocre anymore.

There are several cool new ones but many of them are in odd or late locations. Like Natu is only in the Ruins of Alph. Heracross falls out of trees that you can use Headbutt on. Skarmory and Phanpy are in the route south of Blackthorne so you can only really get them after the 8th badge. Houndour is all the way in Kanto near Celadon. Larvitar is in Mt Silver which is literally the last area of the game.

If we are including gen 2, the Typhlosion is my favorite by far. Such a loveable but also cool pokemon, he was my first starter and I always found the idea of travelling around with him following me to be pretty comfy. If we are talking explicitly gen 1, then I think Nidorino may be my favorite. Shame he evolves with a stone, any time I get a Nidorino I always pull him off the front lines so I can get the stone to turn it into Nidoking before leveling him more which sucks

Autism blog post alert, just want to warn you guys ahead of time. You don't have to read or even agree with me.

1. Looking at this makes me think that 3 stages for most Pokemon wasn't necessary. Pidgeotto, Poliwhirl Gloom and Weepingbell were redundant, not necessary.

2. The trade mons are okay but they should have evolved with stones instead, meaning give us unique stones that evolve them obviously that is rare and you can't buy from the stores. Trade incentive could have stayed by being an easier way to evolve them without using a finite stone. I'd have kept these mons having 3 stages though since it makes them have a unique appeal.

3. I would say the only ones who shouldn't have evolved or had a pre-evo were the legendaries.

4. Due to number 3, I would have introduced evolved forms or babies to any that had none in this gen with an exception to Porygon.

5. Mr. Mime gets a pre evo baby form Jr. Mime that came many gens later, and also an alternate Ms. Mime. So similar to the Nidorans.

6. Tangela should have had an evolved form in this gen. Same for Farfetch'd.

7. Tyroug introduced in this gen.

8. Lapras gets a baby form, so does Tauros, Snorlax, Lickitung, Scyther and Pinsir. The other ones baby forms get introduced this gen.

9. Ditto stays as is but Transform gives you full PP benefit. In fact this little guy should have been even more unique. Instead of fight it should say transform. Then once it transforms the fight options come in. This would have made him much more intriguing as a mon. Also give him a bit of a stat boost, he doesn't copy the stats only the attacks, look and weakness and strengths of the other mon. Finally fulfilling his true deserved role as a wildcard poke that is sort of also a jack of all trades master of none.
