I suppose if you have a CRT handy it's nice to be able to play on one of those, and otherwise things like lightguns or specific controllers you want to use.
I like both, if I already have the console I'll use it, if i don't I'm happy to use emulation.

From a purely 100% practical standpoint, no, original hardware is always inferior and feature-barren compared to emulation. Even modern consoles are quickly being outdone by their emulators.

My legitimate argument is that I simply want to. I still have most of my old consoles and games, and a relatively nice CRT that still works. Why wouldn't I use the original hardware? Don't get me wrong though, I do love emulators as well. I think they're necessary in order to keep classic games around and relevant.
