The levels are completely serviceable for what their purpose is, to make a buffer between bosses and allow you to refill health. They're not "shit". The problem is you expect every game in a genre to be the exact same, most run n guns focus on levels rather than bosses so when a game flips that you freak out because you have real life autism and can't adapt to change
