Oh, who am I kidding. Story reportedly is this game was so heavily pirated that the author never made another again.

Though around this site, if you mention Apple //, the response is eihter lolapplesux, or Oregon Trail!

I know about Bilestoad. Apparently they only sold like 1500 copies, but then it was really too weird of a game for most people's tastes. Sierra's Softporn by comparison sold over 20,000 copies at a time when Apple had shipped only about 100,000 computers.

The game attempts to play Fur Elise, but background music on the Apple II was one of the hardest programming challenges on the machine and few programmers ever got it to sound right.

In fact I remember reading an interview with the programmer somewhere. He said game development was a pretty rough process in 1981. Plotting your graphics on graph paper and painstakingly converting them to binary format and all that.

ok, lets bring this thread back on the right track
this was a sequel of the lawnmower man PC game
basically the company that had the license to the franchise realized that the first game was complete crap and basically remade it under the guise of a sequel, no one bought it though... it comes in a huge record like sleave that has this very image on it and the booklet kinda hints that they expected no one to buy it anyhow and they congradulate the people that have. The booklet is pretty much a love letter from the developers to the people that "stuck with the company", it's actually kinda strange to have something so personal for such an intentionally cold and detached game. Also the game is actually pretty decent

There might have been monsters, if I recall correctly. Actually a really fun game, but not much variation between levels. If you let the coins fall, jets of flame come up from the lava. And Charon paddled around at the bottom; can't remember what his function was, though. Still, I've never met anyone else who played it.

>> No.850237

Another great C64 game that no one played was Photo Safari. I think it only came out on a Loadstar compilation disk. Really fun little game, though. You had to take pictures of wildlife; the monkey would steal your camera if you stayed in one place too long, though. And then your editor would go through the pictures, giving you money depending on how good they were. Some of his comments on the bad pictures were pretty hilarious. You needed to get enough money to pay for your next trip into the jungle.
