just replayed this for the rebirth ending. i love it. i think the first game is a little more satisfying because of the story and its length. but this game is so engrossing on a psychological level because the story is so mature in terms of the way it tackles characters who are deeply disturbed, suicide is a pervasive theme and you are playing as a guy who is fucked in the head. the sound design is so horrifying that i still get freaked out and feel dread after beating it 7 times over many years. toluca prison is suffocating, i wanted to take breaks and stop because i was getting scared. i love how the game doesn't hold your hand, you just have to explore the town and figure it out. the graphics are still great. after all these years, i can't complain about anything. it's a masterpiece

The first game has only 3 maps to explore. The story is much more straight forward and dialogue with the characters are much shorter but combat gameplay is much better tough
