I'm doing a secret santa this year, and one of the person's interests is 'pre-normie' vidya, what games would fit into this category? They like the yakuza series from what i've gathered - Asking here as my experience with gaming is limited to recent rpgs, visual novels and LiS lol

Literally none of them. There's a reason why your grandma knows what an Atari is.

what a bizarre thing to tell someone. Get him bad Wii games out of spite.

Turbografx games, it was never popular enough to be part of every normie's childhood

vidya has always been for normies
the Atari 2600 sold amazingly well
the NES is still a byword for vidya for some people, like "regular Nintendo"
SNES and Genesis were normiecore
PS1 and N64 were normiecore
the list goes on

How old is this person you're shopping for? That would probably help.

Normie isn't an era, but the older you go the less likely young/normal people will have played it unless it's some Mario/Zelda/Pokemon shit.

Surely not older than 12.

Certainly. I've never heard "pre-normie" before.

just buy him a game with mecha in it and be done with it

>> No.8433456

Probably pre Atari 2600 since that's the beginning of normies buying consoles so I think that leaves magnavox odyssey?

The Yakuza series has become normiecore during the PS4 generation. It's Sega's biggest franchise outside of Sonic.

there's literally zero reason to play the ps2 originals

Video games were more "normie" than they can ever hope to be now in the days of Pong and Pac-Man. Educate yourself.
