I don't remember how I first tried Quake, but I do know that Quake 2 and Unreal were the first to get me into the WASD + mouse control scheme. When I went back to try Quake, I didn't know to enter that into the console but I did set full mouselook to the right mouse button. Not ideal but I only held it down for fights anyways, and the game was fun.
