Just started playing this on a whim. Man have I been missing out. This game would have gotten a ton of play on my gameboy back in the day if I was smart enough to play anything other than pokemon and zelda games.

>> No.839620

no shit eh? this is why i fucking rage when people are like can I have some Gb recommendations? and every fucking tard out there is like POKEMANS. I was trying to build my GB library a while ago and all the internet could yield was pokemon wanking for the most part. I want to kick those kids in the teeth

grew up with this, its great

This is the list I grabbed it from. Gameboy and color were weird systems for me. I seemed to only have a handful of games for them.

>every fucking tard out there is like POKEMANS.

It's a touchy subject, but /vr/ has a lot of posters too young to remember the GB days. Teenagers who only like the biggest games from back then because it's all they've heard people talk about on Tumblr/Facebook/etc.. Pokemon hits both the "retro game" and "imma 90s kids!" demographic with those sorts of people.

Don't forget the Super Gameboy!

You'll need it to play Donkey Kong 94 in color.

If you don't mind spending the extra dosh, I recommend the Game Boy Advance Player over the Super Game Boy, since it plays everything. Downside is that you don't get cool borders like the Super Game Boy.

>> No.839691

Super game boy runs at 1.2 speed though, so its junk. Gameboy player is much better.

>>839634
yeah their lists kind of suck. Its a good place to start but god damn that just shows me how much they missed out on

Yah word I hear dat. I was an OG game boy ma fucka so I always die inside when I have to hear pokemanz is the best game.

The Gameboy Mario games are some of the best in the series, but no one ever talks about them. Wario Land 4 is probably my favorite game out of all the Mario/Wario games.

Why would running a game faster than its meant to be, be a good thing. It speeds the music up, changes the gameplay. How is that good?

I'm trying to build mine as well actually. Any suggestions aside from what's kind of obvious?

To be fair he is updating the list. I have no idea who runs the website. Just googled a top 25 list as a jumping off point.

i'd like to know

this is what i have right now

i've tried many things but...a lot of them don't seem to have aged well

i don't think the (first) gameboy had many developers making -quality- games for it

>> No.839750

You probably know the more obvious choices (Link's Awakening, Super Mario Bros. DX, SML series, Kirby, Dr. Mario, etc. ) so here are some of the less obvious choices

>Balloon Kid
>Bust-A-Move 3 DX
>Daedalean Opus
>Game Boy Camera (You can't emulate this)
>Harvest Moon games
>GBC Metal Gear Solid
>Megaman V (and IV if you like Mega Man, and the other three if you REALLY like Mega Man)
>Ninja Taro
>Pokemon Trading Card Game (I know you're sick of hearing POKEYMANZ, but this is outside of the main series and is pretty fun)
>Tetris DX
>Tetris Attack
>SD Lupin III - Kinko Yaburi Daisakusen

I have better gameboy games than you son. Just because its not running the original speed means it shit, its a different way to play the game, I've beat Super Mario Land 2 many many times on my gameboy and a SGB just makes for a different gameplay experience. /v/ don't wanna talk about Super Game Boy either ya fuckin fagget

>> No.840253

The Super Gameboy runs at 2% greater speed. It's almost unnoticeable unless you're autistic as fuck. If you can't stand it, the Super Gameboy 2 plays the games at the right speed, but you'll have to import it.

>> No.840281

How did anyone even notice this?

>> No.840290

Speedrunners.

>> No.840296

>>840281
It was probably noticed by examining the technical aspects of the system rather than some aspie screaming "OH MY GOD THIS EXPERIENCED IS RUINED FOREVER WHAT PLEB PLAYS ON ANYTHING ELSE THAN ORIGINAL HARDWARE"

Anyone claiming to notice it during gameplay is just experiencing placebo effect.

>> No.840453

The best "portable" "Mario game" is Warioland for Virtual Boy.

Have you ever watched a show and you become very acquainted with its intro?

You can usually tell when the channel is speeding up the opening because of time constraints. I don't want to rule out somebody noticing an increase in game speed.
