Jesus christ, how can you play this level without getting motion sick?
I decided to replay Sa2 after not having touched the game since '09 and the camera is making me nauseous.
it was tolerable in most levels but dear god mad space really makes me sick!
Is it perhaps my monitor? I'm playing it on 26 inch monitor. I don't remember getting motion sickness when playing this game as a kid.

Happened to me when I played it back in '02. It's the reason I never beat it. I just ended up playing a friend's copy of the GCN version and playing the last levels there to see how it ended.

Guy here, and it's just a common thing in general. You probably hear less men talk about it since they either managed to push through it, or are too embarassed to admit it. SA2 is especially rough for motion sickness, since the way things move and how fast the camera changes makes your brain feel like something's wrong. I think I heard someone say they were one of those things where some people were born more alert, which ironically made them more prone to changes like that. Evolutionary pros and cons.

Get a smaller monitor and/or make sure you check the settings to make sure it's not making you dizzy with shitty framerate. Play in a well-lit room and sit far enough that the TV screen isn't fully taking up your vision. I couldn't even play PS1 games till I got one of those 10 inch screens, but I have a more extreme case of motion sickness.

Your brain gets too immersed and starts to feel weird about how the movements in the game don't match what it predicts from real life, leading to your brain getting confused and you getting a headache. That's why a 2D sonic game generally won't cause it even if it's going by super fast, while a first person game can cause it near instantly. We're still not sure on the exacts yet, but that's the reason the term for this back then was simulator sickness: the uncanniness compared to real life made some people's heads more confused than others. Fun fact, it's more common among people who didn't grow up with 3D games, or games in general.
