But not because the emulation is bad (duckstation rocks) or the games aren't decent BUT the thing that fucking makes me mad is the shitload of games that need more than 1 disc even if the whole shit would fit in just 1 but devs separated it in more discs to make their games look more ''big'' and ''impressive''. Fuck em

Faster load times from the inside of the disc. Scrub.

>> No.8366796

Most games that had 2 discs had too much high quality audio to fit into one, like RE2.

you mean you cant change the disc in the emulator?

>> No.8366843

>like RE2
Capcom actually goofed and miscalculated the required disc space during mastering. They could fit the entirety of RE2 on one disc, but at the time more discs = more hype.

Changing discs isn't difficult.

Is duckstation that much better than beetle psx?

>> No.8366967

>>8366832
That's retarded. All emus should be able to swap discs just fine. I don't see how swapping is less convenient than literally, physically changing CDs, lmfao.
>>8366952
I prefer mednafen, but it seems the least convenient to swap CDs on it. You have to make a .cue file with all the filenames inserted into it, and then you can swap with F6-F9 keys.

>>8366967
thats why i was asking OP about this, i used to have a problem with swapping diskette images on an amiga emulator because sometimes it would crash for no fucking reason i cant believe that someone might be such a baby-bitch that they have a problem of going out of their game for 10 seconds to swap iso's i mean come on

>> No.8367000

>>8366761
-make a txt file
-put the name of the cue files or whatever format the games are into the txt file and save
-rename the txt file to m3u
-run m3u
retro arch ques multiple discs and allows you to swap them through a menu.
If you are using an anbernic handheld with 351elec or arkos, there is a script to automatically create m3u files out of your ps1 games

Committing to a video game used to be more an effort. You would find out about upcoming releases from gaming mags, maybe it was the next game in line of your favorite genre... these days steam spawns a horde of entitled zoomers; they buy the game on a sale, install & download in under 5 minutes, play for 30 minutes, never play it again.

Basically retards are looking for dopamine hits, it's either video games or browsing 4chan, twitter, imgur, anything. The meta has changed. Any inconvenience if ever so slight is a deal breaker.

>> No.8367125

>>8366794
it's the other way around.
the outer tracks are longer, so they hold more data.
devs usually included dummy files to occupy the inner tracks if the disc and have game data on the outer tracks.

It is. I am really tired of the stupid faggots sperging over Beetle PSX. It has glitches and bugs that go back to 2010 (the year they were reported) and they still haven't been fixed (stuff like Vigilante 8 (and its sequel) having texture corruption on the battlegrounds, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha crashing almost all the time, etc.), while Duckstation has almost zero issues with most games.

>> No.8368138

ePSXe remains the greatest PSX emulator and I'm tired of pretending otherwise

>> No.8368145

Beetle is a bastardization of the much superior mednafen.

I got RE2 because I thought I could share it with a pal and we both could play it at the same time. This worked out well but when I did the same with MGS I was disappointed.

Have you tried Duckstation? It's really impressive and you don't even need to touch the settings. I only increased the internal resolution. I can't imagine ever using epsxe ever again.

So is this duckstation thing actually good? And what's the best place to get Playstation ISOs nowadays?

I stopped caring about emulation after emuparadise went down and I haven't played since the dark days of epsxe, but I want to see how far things have come.

Also most ps1 emu's can use a .m3u list to load all discs.
