ESL here. Cannot say anything about modern woke trash, but I loved the inbetween level load times on the PS1, because they were accompanied with rendered game art from the time without internet access. I like the Tomb Raider art shown during loading before the level starts. In racing games the track course could be shown for a quick study. Nothing other comes to mind atm, but I'm sure there are many more useful applications to the loading times, as long as they are not happening during gameplay.

It depends on your personal taste. The NES was the least fun for me as a child, but I'll take Super Mario Bros., Castlevania, and Tetris over 99% of the games on all other consoles. Furthermore, an argument can be made for consoles that do family entertainment better than most. The Wii being the absolute king of that category and it will never be dethroned. The PS1 on the other hand couldn't even run without being turned upside down by most people...

Not enough 2D action games. Its most famous one is SOTN, which is barely action as it is more RPG/tansaku.
Nothing beats the Famicom-Mega Drive-Super Famicom holy trinity for me.
5th gen has a lot of good stuff and Saturn does have really good 2D capabilities (mostly used for arcade ports) but it doesn't have as much good stuff as 4th gen.
